Nuss seems like the type that loves a challenge and will see this as an opportunity to show the ESPN cucks that they are wrong.

Similar was said about Daniels before his heisman season. If he was going to throw downfield he would have by now but all he does is tuck it and run.

Nuss doesn't need to be the best runner.

I am shocked that Manning isn't ranked first.

It would be great If he is going to be mobile, otherwise, expect him to Nuss.

Damn, hopefully we can run the ball this year. Nuss gonna need tommy john before the draft if he keeps this up.

I could not agree more! and I was one of the ones saying Daniels wasn't going to do it!

I honestly did not think he would make a leap from year 1 at LSU to year 2. He was a 4th, going on 5th year player. He had tons of experience prior to coming to LSU. I didn't see him growing the way he did in 1 offseason. I thought whatever growth we were going to see would have been seen.
I WAS WRONG

the biggest difference, is this past season was Nuss's first as the starter. So, I think there is potential for Nuss to make a similar meteoric rise.

He doesn't need to be Daniels with his feet, He just needs to pull it down and scamper for a first down, or pick up the 8-10 yards with his feet when everyone is covered... quickly defenses will have to adjust, and that will create throwing opportunities.

Well I’ve never understood the infatuation with Allar because he’s never impressed me.

Also I’ve only watched Klubnik once and he was atrocious against Georgia in the opener last year so I’m assuming he looked a lot better throughout the season for everyone to have him at the top of the list of QBs.

He's never going to have eye popping stats because they don't ask him to do as much, but he's got great physical traits and potential, similar to Nuss.

Basically the same completion percentage and yards per attempt as Nuss last year. Had 7 more pass TD and 6 less INT. Also had 463 rush yards and 7 rush TD.

shite, Jayden Daniels was scared to throw the ball his 1st year at LSU. Most of us, myself included, thought that would never happen either.

For the record, I don't imagine seeing Nuss turn into Tebow or Newton or Johnny Football, but surely he can be taught to take off with nothing but green grass 20 yards in front of him and Nobody open.Maybe an every 5 year Peyton Manning bootleg at a crucial point?

He did a little bit in the OU game, also Hilton was a reliable deep threat on a couple of TDs in that game too so hopefully something clicked there going into this season.
Nuss had -7 yards rushing against Oklahoma.

Please don't compare Garrett Nussmeier's running to Jayden Daniels' passing. That's a truly awful opinion.

Nuss Has a History of Being an Awful Ball Carrier
Nuss's best year running the ball was 2023 when he had 1 yard rushing. In his other three years at LSU, he had negative rushing yards. He had -38 yards rushing in 2024. Did Daniels ever have a season with negative yards passing?

Daniels Had a History of Being a Good Ball Passer
While Daniels did not have the volume passing in 2022 that Nuss had in 2024, Daniels had at least average SEC volume (7th in yards passing) in 2022. He was a completely legit passer in 2022.
- In 2022, Daniels had 68.2% completion, 7.5 yards per attempt, and a passer rating of 144.54.
- In 2024, Nussmeier had 64/2% completion, 7.7 yards per attempt, and a passer rating of 142.68.

Of course, Daniels blew up in 2023. But he was good in 2022.
In 2023, Daniels had 72.2% completion, 11.7 yards per attempt, and a record setting passer rating of 208.01.

I truly hope that Nuss shows the same passing improvement in his final year that Daniels showed in his final year. I don't know if Nuss will set NCAA passing records like Daniels did, but I believe Nuss has a good chance to win the Heisman like Daniels did.

But to suggest that Nuss has shown any of the signs of being a rusher before his final year that Daniels showed of being a passer before his final year, well, that's just silly. Anything is possible, but the best predictor of the future is the past. Again, Nuss's best year rushing is +1 yards.

You and me are in the same boat. I told everyone that Joe burrow was insanely good before they caught on. I had no confidence in JD making that leap. I was spot on with JB, way off with JD, and no idea what to expect this time. JB was easy because of football knowledge. JD was hard to predict because he ACTUALLY made a massive leap in skill while JB was already insanely good surrounded by awful talent and no one was understanding that, plenty of goofs who think he "flipped a switch" after his crackback vs UCF when he would have torched them either way.

My reluctance in faith is that JD had legs before his leap, Nuss has shined a couple times with his wheels but, he doesn't have that secondary skill. I do feel like he REALLY got to experiment and take some crazy chances last year, and it'll build his spine and experiences. I think the best hope is he comes out as an incredible pocket passer making very good decisions with the ball.
