They’re doing it for TD.
That way for every episode of Gameday after Saturday, someone on Tigerdroppings can say “I’ve seen better Gameday setups in the Quad” and it be true.

The last few times it has been on the parade grounds. They bring too much equipment to be anywhere else. Also, not displacing anyone's tailgate anymore.
