many universities do give the players a "cost of living" payment now.

That’s the thing about the people banging the table to pay players, none present any kind of plan. It’s just empty virtue signaling.

Baseball players are figuring it out more and more. Living the good life in college for 3 years is way more fun that riding a bus around the minor leagues, staying in cheap hotels, and playing in front of a handful of fans.

Any one that brings up pay for college players and doesn't mention baseball is a fool. Players turn down millions of dollars as a 18 year old to go to college for 3 years and sometimes only get a percentage of a scholarship.

bullshite.

Follow the olympic model, players can make money off their likeness.

This plan has been stated numerous times in this thread alone, SO....

It isn’t up to LSU to be able to pay players, it’s the ncaa that won’t allow it. If it were up to LSU they’d pay up for sure, as would all major programs. The schools aren’t preventing anything at all as it isn’t their call, I don’t know why he’s acting like LSU can do this but not that when that isn’t the case at all. LSU isn’t preventing anyone from making money from their likeness and people need to stop acting like that’s the way it is. The problem is the ncaa and that’s really the beginning and the end of it.

if any team picks you up this year and you were to start a game, please say your name and what HS you went to. Please don't tell anyone you went to LSU.

I would probably consider those facilities as putting revenue towards compensating the players.

I'm not saying it's enough but athletes do get cost of attendance allowances in addition to the full ride
Not to mention the meal plan is in a specialized nutrition center, there is an academic advantage with free tutoring made available specifically for players, and if that's not enough, they have their own top of the line private lounge amongst other perks. They don't even pay for shoes lol.

Something a lot of people don't ever mention. If a kid is really great at baseball, they don't even go to college. They go straight to the pros.

If a kid is really great at basketball, he has to go to college for one year. Then on to the pros.

But if a kid is really great at football, he has to go to college for 3 years or at least be out of high school that long before going to the pros.

I'm quite certain that's an NFL rule. Tell Eric Reid to bitch about the nfl some more. It's gotten him so far in life...

Bull shite. EA sports even said they would be happy to pay players for their likeness for NCAA games but the NCAA shot it down. There are ways these guys could get paid that wouldn’t even be noticed by the colleges they attend. It’s just another example of corporate greed getting away with screwing over workers in America.

Title IX will never permit it. It’s a can of worms just waiting to be opened if that route is ever pursued.

Players are already paid

Best housing on campus
Professional Trainers
Professional Nutritionist
Tutors
Top notch Medical staff
And most importantly a free education.

I do agree that players should be able to make money from autographs, name, & likeness usage.

I see nothing wrong with his statement. I don’t agree with him but it seems like a decent point

Dont see a diss, but until financial compensation is approved by the NCAA the locker rooms are one of the things LSU can do for athletes .

Al much as I love LSU football and that locker room. The man is right. It's kinda bull shite that they can build that, but not give the players any type of money for cost of living. And don't tell me their scholarship is enough money to survive on... I been to college, I was starving, even with a full ride

Cry me a river....do you know how many people attend LSU with no benefit of a scholarship at all....they work several jobs...make student loans...and eat ramen noodles a mac and cheese just to get by. Athletes receive a scholarship...free tutoring....free medical care....free food (excellent food). They are catered to and if they don't graduate with a degree...it's their own damn fault.

I want to remember plays like the 9-6 INT, but he is making it harder.

Which is why college football as we know it should be abolished in favor of a semi pro league.

I mean The schools can’t outright pay players.

So they give them all crazy cool benefits and facilities.

They're compensated by having the opportunity to get a college degree without being $150K plus in debt like every other student is.
