quote:

“It starts with how he handles himself off the field first. He makes good decisions and he’s never on a list,” Brian Kelly told the media on Tuesday. “I was telling our guys this the other day that if there is just one question I get from NFL general managers and staff it’s , is he reliable? This is a guy that you can count on.”

quote:

Tiger fans and the coaching staff hope that the maturity level of Jones can help catapult this LSU offense into the next tier, as they look to mate a return trip to Atlanta and beyond. Jones has been the subject of many conversations when it comes to how this starting five shakes out. Does the best look mean he slides into guard, as incoming freshman Zalance Heard starts on the outside? Or does a mix of veterans occupy the interior spots, while Jones continues to grow at the tackle position?

Whatever decision is made, Jones has made it clear that he just wants to win. Having a guy with that mentality and the willingness to be a team player first, is the exact type of player that can unlock a team’s potential. It also makes him more intriguing to NFl front office members that will no doubt be monitoring Jones and quite a few LSU players this season.

I read the thread title as John Emery and read the whole first paragraph thinking it was about JE4. So I was excited to hear that as I think John Emery having a breakout year could take the offense to another level.

Then I hit the 2nd paragraph about the "maturity level of Jones" and realized I'd made a mistake. Now I'm disappointed.

Jones was so athletic on special teams it seems almost a waste to not have him at tackle.

When is the last time we had 3 legitimate SEC tackles? (Presuming heard lives up to the hype)

OLine is definitely trending that way.
DLine still has some work to do.
We haven’t seen a dominant, constant disrupting DLine at LSU in a while.

But Wingo and Smith this year have the ability to make that happen if they can stay healthy.

Even if he moves inside to guard, and stays there the rest of his college career, he's still a likely first rounder in my opinion...

If you do things right, eventually the word will get out, and that's how you endear yourself to LSU fans. If you're able to do that, you will succeed in whatever you do post-NFL career. They'll make sure of it.
