How does Woodward handle this buyout without looking like an idiot for approving the current contract?
Woodward is gonna NEED good cause or he takes a huge hit.
Don’t know if he has it or not, but if not, I expect a very aggressive negotiating posture for both sides and LOTS of litigation.

Extremely surprising to see Brian Kelly down at #60 on that list.

Notre Dame being private means they don’t have to disclose everything like public institutions.

I’d be shocked if Kelly wasn’t actually Top 10.

The other add ins were so when the contract is absolved there will be several of these items he will not sniff some of these. They included media appearance, TAF, private jet use, athletic wear. I can’t recall them all. It’s a combination of items. The insurance was a big one over a 2 year period which ends this year.
He had incentives for reaching 10 wins, division champ, sec champ, nay championship. That is why from a compensation standpoint he was fourth on the list behind Saban, Dabo and Harbaugh if I remember correctly.

Cause may be gone with LSU ignoring his actions.
Are they still waiting on some investigation report? Kinda like waiting on the Durham report snd the election audits?

I read some analysis rabbit hole a little while ago around Kelly’s actual compensation. It’s about 8 million.

if we had refused to ever give Coach O more than 3 million a year and no buyout… what would he have done?

How dumb are we?

Obviously he was due a raise after the championship, but this is excessive.

Why wasn’t excessive when you were tiding his cock? The issue is the life insurance which pays off this season. Contracts have front end clauses and back end clauses. What makes them great are clauses like the one he has recently violated repeated times where his conduct reflects poorly on LSU.
BTW - if you don’t think Woodward sat with him last year about shite, you’re stupid or never had a job… either way he probably warned him in writing during his performance review about his behavior towards the contract.

O buyout is $17M. Jimbo buyout is $100M. LSU got that championship for a bargain.

It’s amazing how many grown men in this thread don’t understand ROI. The investment made after the 2019 season will pay dividends during negotiations this year. When Woody tells the best coaching prospects throughout the nation that LSU rewards championships better than where the currently coach, he has the track record to prove it.

Guys —

Type “Ed Orgeron contract pdf” in your search browser

You can find his contact.

His base is $6 mill per.

He got a $2.5 mill insurance pay out this year from
LSU…. Not sure where the rest came from. Probably bonuses tied to academics.

Woodward inherited an overpaid HC who then goes out and wins a natty. So yes, he had to give him a raise. There are few if any who dispute that. What he didn't have to do was effectively double his salary.

There is such a disparity between what we're paying Ed and his market value. And yes, Scott shares some of that responsibility.

There's something wrong in this photo but Woody is standing slightly behind Alleva and to the side of Ponamsky.

Woodward Needs to Redeem Himself
