-Coaches acting like players for drills. Andre Carter on the sled push .

-4th quarter is not being split up by position anymore. Team is all together.

-"It's going to be a great quarterback race. I can't wait to see it. We have great quarterbacks back there, better than we ever had (as far as the room) and we've got more returning starters than we've ever had and we got a great recruiting class so this is going to be a good year for us."

-Putting in the scheme. They're getting an extra 2 hours a week

-Tommy Moffitt brought in a routine from Ohio State that on Wednesday's they have competition 4th quarter. Think of the Joe Burrow fighting for the tire video.

-Great recruiting class and great returning starters

-Completely new defense. 2019 offense has fully returned.

-Max came in last year and Kole Taylor last year they walked in everyday together last year. Best friends and didn't know each other. Let the new guys gel naturally.

-Coach O said the actor who played him on the "Young Rock' needed to hit the weight room

-O will be at the McNeese game at Cowboys stadium Saturday

From SI on Orgeron's "4th Qtr Drills":

quote:

"Fourth Quarter" at LSU is a mentally and physically draining exercise for the Tigers' players each and every spring. It's a set of exhausting drills meant to push the players to their limits in order to see how they fight and how they respond to such a taxing set of workouts.

With spring ball just a month away, the Tigers are set to begin the strenuous series of drills next week and with a new coaching staff in place, strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt wanted the new hires to see just exactly how it's run. During an interview with Off the Bench on Tuesday, LSU coach Ed Orgeron said that all of the assistant coaches have been learning this week from Moffit what to expect starting next week.

quote:

"We went through every detail of the drills we're gonna do next week. Fourth quarter is about coaches giving the correct demands and the players listening to the commands and executing it while they're tired," Orgeron said. "Some of the coaches pretended like they were players and and they were examples for the drills."

quote:

Orgeron also revealed that the team will be approaching the fourth quarter drills a little bit differently in 2021. Usually the players are divided up by their individual position groups to run through the exercises but this year, the Tigers will go through the drills as a whole team.

It goes back to what Orgeron has talked a lot about over the last several months and that's finding some cohesiveness with this group of returning players and incoming freshman talent. For example, as soon as Daronte Jones was hired as defensive coordinator, he immediately announced in his introductory press conference that the safeties and cornerbacks would start working together and not be split up like years past.

"They're all gonna learn how to fight for each other," Orgeron said. "We're not gonna be fighting against each other, we'll be fighting for each other. I thought we needed to be closer as a team like we were in 2019 and it's going to help our team get to know each other."

Didn't Bama have a 4th qtr program like a decade ago? Sounds like another 0 gimmick. Not buying anything after last seasons pre season comments. 0 sold us a pile of shite.

To be fair, he also told us that Burrow was a NC caliber QB prior to the start of 2019. So his preseason hype is 50/50 on big predictions.

They still do I believe and so does Ohio State.

It's essentially what they do in the military. Get you dead arse tired then train you to still execute while exhausted and under duress.

Umm..... LSU has been doing the 4th quarter program for almost as long as Moffit has been our SC (AKA a LONG time). The new part is the competition Friday...

I could have sworn every program already did something like this, they just didn't need to add a catchy name to it.

Didn't he also say before last season that our defense was better in practice than ANY point during the 2019 National Championship season?
