re: DVH said he pulled Root because they weren’t going to score on Anderson

40 pitches is quite alot and it a high effort inning, no way they let him go more than 60 pitches or so on 3 days rest
You haven't followed DVH's career have you?
Boat, I don't think Root gets to Wednesday. I think he starts on Tuesday.

There is no way he said that...that would send a terrible message.

Let's hope LSU doesn't face Root a 2nd time. We will need UCLA to knock out the Hogs if LSU wins the 1st UCLA match up this Monday.
Would be ideal but at least LSU owns the Omahogs in Omaha
LSU would also have Anderson waiting in the if nec game if needed so LSU would be sitting pretty

Y'all aren't describing it right. He wasn't just giving up on the game. He wanted to go righty there against Frey to not give up anymore runs
It wasn’t the 5th or 6th it was 2 outs into the second.

Lefties have also been scientifically proven to be not as pussy and able to recover faster than righties

He was right about Kade and he made the right move. The reliever was lights out.
LSU just has Kade and he was on his game,
LSU just has Kade and he was on his game,

You don't have to tell me that

So. If Frey blasts a homer there against the lefty, he knew the game was over.
Yes it was unorthodox and you can disagree with it, but he wasn't throwing in the towel. Listen again, he breaks it down just as I said.
He said the same thing in the in game interview

He didn't concede the game. He thought the at bat to Ethan Frey could have ended the game. So he brought in a righty to get that out. They held LSU scoreless from the time he made that pitching change until the 8th inning.
That's exactly why he did it. I felt the same way, I was disappointed that Frey wasn't going to hit against him. I had a great feeling about that matchup. The pitcher was already upset and in his head too much and coach knew it. It was a great decision, and gave them a chance.

Why? We have faced him twice.
7 innings total 5 earned runs and 2-0.

So he was conceding the game in the 2nd inning? See why he’s never won a title

What exactly what would they be saving him for?
We'll see Root again and DVH will pitch him till his arm falls off as long as we aren't hitting.

Agreed, i think root throws Tuesday

During the game he gave a really good answer. He felt Root wasn’t having a good game. He felt it was getting away from him. He wanted to have a chance to come back and felt it was snowballing on Root. It’s hard to argue when Gaekle shut us down. Their offense let them down.

I think Murray will pull an upset with Arkansas losing this emotional game to LSU

DVH noted the wind was blowing in, they were down 0-3, Kade was dealing, and we had a righty coming to the plate (Frey) hitting over .400 vs lefties.
FTR, I think he knew Root didn't have his best stuff and plans to recycle him before they leave town if he can.

He said that they were down 3 runs, had walked 2, hit one and gave up a hit. He knew it would be hard to get runs against Kade and the wind made it unlikely to hit it out. He needed to stop the bleeding and hope they started getting a run of base hits.
