Braun is elite and will develop more power in his soph year. This isnt knocking braun out of the lineup

Will be curious to see how we utilize the talented freshmen. He is one of those that should see ABs.

Braun focused on more quality AB that swinging for the fences last year and it paid off in a huge way.

.355 in SEC play
As many free passes as strikeouts in SEC play

Because he didnt tear the cover off the ball people may not realize at the draft combine in 2025 he hit the longest HR there at 430 feet. HE also tied for most HRs over 400' with 3. He has tons of power he can unleash.

He also had some elite at bats against top flight sec LHP which is the hardest thing to find. We would be fotunate if any of the freshman come close to being as goood as Braun and serna were last year.

if he plays first base jays going to be itching to play him over Braun
playing over a guy who has already proven to hit elite sec pitching based on a batting practice video where a coach is throwing 70 mph fastballs down the middle? Look I’m excited this guy got to campus because competition is a good thing but he can easily be the new punching bag like Yorke if he doesn’t know how hit to off speed pitches the other way, let’s pump the brakes.

Talk of the combine but he falls fairly far in the draft? How does that happen?

Very simply too high an asking price for what teams were willing to pay for him (MLB doesnt draft high school 1st basemen particularly highly either), also he is mostly a 1 plus tool player.

He looks great in BP or hitting fastballs, ask about what happened on the travel circuit for him this past year though. He is not as college ready as people on here might be thinking. The step in pitching he will see from Wisconsin high school ball along with a steady diet of breaking balls is something he'll have to majorly adjust to. It's what he struggled with on the travel ball side.

I dont think he's as advanced as Jared Jones was honestly coming out of high school. Both have a lot of swing and miss and similar power but Jones will put the ball in play a little more than Santarelli might right away in college. Santarelli might be a guy if he started all SEC play might hit .210 but have 15 home runs in 30 games.

Definitely could see this. We do need to get him ABs though. He needs the experience for his sophomore campaign.

His power is ELITE though. Maybe he can pray to Jobu.

That guy is already hitting balls close to the record. I think the record for NCAA was 119 off the bat and he's pretty close to that as it is. That's crazy. Imagine if he grows into anymore power.

Very excited about him, but I expect a lot of swing and miss as a freshman.

Same thing was said about 19 y/o John Pearson playing against kids in HS and at these combines.
Pearson is a dead red FB hitter and unless he changes he will be buried in the line-up or transfers. I won’t get excited until I see him against decent OoC and SEC pitching. Change, curve, FB and slider from a pitcher that can command throwing in the high 80’s to low 90’s can dominate kids that can’t hit a curve. Pitch deception is so much different from these Div1 level pitchers. It takes time to get used to if ever. If he was a sure fire Dylan Crews type hitter, he would have been drafted higher. It is why Jones fell so far as opposed to Tommy White.
Be a hitter.
