Going into Year 3, there still hasn’t been much talk coming out of camp about him having a good camp. Nothing really seems to have changed besides his body maturing. The same concerns are still there, especially his pad level being too high.

I’ve seen several videos of other guys putting in work this offseason, whether it’s in groups or individually, but I’ve yet to see much from him. Maybe he just doesn’t post it, but with three true freshmen coming in and already making noise, at what point do you tell yourself, “I better pick it up, or I’m going to get passed up”?

Right now, he’s on that Chris Davenport trajectory if he doesn’t pick it up.

Hopefully he plays well this year but I do remember the note on him out of Acadiana was that he was super raw. Maybe it's just taking a long time for him to pop. A lot of folks called it sour grapes when he was an A&M commit and folks said he wasn't an instant impact guy but here we are.

Been listening to Ruffino? Just let camp play out without calling a player out like you have seen first hand. Its situations like these where I wish the media had zero access to practice.

According to Ruffino, from what he’s seen at practices so far at the Dline he said Dom better pick it up. Because he’s not showing near the same energy as the other guys. Right now he said Dom looks like the 3rd string rotation with Anderson and either Geralds or Blockton with 1st string and Green/Geralds or Blockton with 2nd string.

Dom seems like he’s just lazy and refuses to correct his bad technique unfortunately. And it’s about to cost him his starting spot.

The pad level excuse is overplayed.

He’s kind of always been the same guy. Freak athlete, body and potential… but he’s just not much of a “football” player

The 12 minutes of practice they get to watch really tells him a lot…

Don't just call a player lazy because of something you hear on a podcast about staying low or body language. Even the best defensive lineman at 6'5 struggle with keep their pad level low. The ones who are able to do it are elite for a reason. Him struggling with staying low doesn't mean "hes lazy." Geez. unless you have first hand knowledge of him being lazy don't state it, I doubt Ruffino actually said he was lazy (incase you're going to claim thats where you got the idea from).

Not to disparage the kid, but he’s not a high energy player. He takes plays off frequently. I saw him play in high school and he should have dominated every game….but didn’t. For lack of a better term, he can be a bit of a lazy player. Hopefully one of the coaches can ignite the spark,

Lane Kiffin's offense leads to pretty poor TOP historically for his teams. Just something you take with Kiffin and his explosive offense.

This means our defense will need effective depth, as they will see a lot of snaps, so I'm hopeful Dom is ready to go.

There was an offensive lineman in the last 5 years that was kind of like that. Dumervil maybe? Always out of shape, out of breath, lagging behind, getting clowned on by his teammates in the behind the scenes videos.

Some kids have all the talent and just don't want it bad enough or just don't fit in. CFB is littered with stories of 5* talents with 0* work ethic and drive.

He's very strong and has a great bull rush and he dominated because of that in high school. He hasn't developed much more than that and he's not overly explosive to begin with

I wouldn’t call a guy that comes to practice every day and puts in the work 0* effort. Maybe 2-3* effort, but 0* is unfair.

People are looking at that and are disappointed. I see that and am pleased. To have someone of that age/size/potential running 3rd string points to great depth.

Would it be great if Dom matured and was suddenly a 60 snap guy? Absolutely. But if he can give LSU 20 solid snaps a game, I’ll be very happy with that.

The season is a marathon, not a sprint

0* effort guys get pushed out of programs or leave when things aren’t handed to them.

Clearly that isn’t Dom.

I listen to Ruffino too just because I’m jonesing for football and take most of what he says with a grain of salt.

I actually liked Moscona’s take on it this morning when someone asked about him not trying or developing. Pretty much said Dom is here in his 3rd year and hasn’t transferred. Not fair at all saying he isn’t working. Compared him to Al Woods who came from a small high school and just took awhile to develop at LSU but had a 10 year NFL career.

He still has 3 years of eligibility and seems like a good kid and has the talent. Let’s see what happens.

The post I was replying to literally says he's not putting in the same energy as his counterparts. Also, these are paid employees now. The time for players just showing up has passed.

I am hoping he can prove me wrong, I just feel like he is one of those massive bodies that looks like they could project into a monster in college and he just hasn't. He doesn't look more physically imposing than he did when he stepped on campus. He isn't a bad football player by any means but he just hasn't lived up to the 5 star label. Watching him vs Deuce get off the ball is light years from one another, I know that's not totally fair because of their size but I just think Deuce will be more effective in a similar high motor way as to what Bernard Gooden was able to do last year as a high motor rusher. Big Dom can still stuff gaps in early downs for sure but he hasn't shown me that he is worthy of consistent pass down reps.
