Sam is actually having a better first year than Jayden did while playing better competition (Clemson, LT, Ole Miss vs FSU, Southern, Miss State).
Their path to being elite could be very similar. If Sam sticks around next year, he will be much improved.

It surprising how many people give up on a QB here 3 games in
Like Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels lit the world on fire the first few games here
The dude didnt even practice in the spring really, give it some time before we're trading QBs yet again.

3 games = 1/4 of the season. Pretty significant given Leavitt's performance so far. Of the three games, Clemson was the outlier - and it was in our house, with the entire offseason to plan for it. Maybe Ole Piss was an outlier, too - it was in their house and they brought the business with their hate, noise, and general FULK chants that obviously got to our team and our coach.
But you can look objectively at the results of all three games and draw a pretty decent initial conclusion. I think everyone with an even keel recognizes that we've seen nothing to give a rock-solid assessment of where Sam stands right now as opposed to where he might (or might not) be in December. That said, though, it's fair to recognize that his passing game is, uh, lacking, right now. And if he keeps running for his life whenever a DL or edge looks at him it's going to put him at risk of a serious injury.
And, lastly, given how NIL and the portal have changed the game for CFB rosters, 1/4 of a season is a pretty big chunk to consider when he might only be here for one year. So wondering if he can make a leap past his performance in the last two games is justified.

Same. Jd5 was gun shy but he wasn't a TO machine. Didn't have near bout the accuracy and processing issues either. Passing wise this is the kind of play that Nuss would get tarred and feathered for. Could be the missed time etc. There's plenty of room for improvement in Sam's game and I still look forward to seeing what he can do. He definitely needs another year in cfb

Wondering if he'll get better over the rest of the year (and be around next year) is NOT the same as "giving up". I'm not calling for QB2 to take over for him - others might, but not me.

It’s because Leavitt is getting paid a significant amount of money to play and produce at QB.
For what he is getting paid, it’s not unreasonable to expect him to be able to complete a pass to a wide open WR.
I do think he will get better and progress throughout the season as he gets back into game shape and comfortable with the offense, but when a QB is paid what Leavitt is paid, better play is expected.

If he stays for a second year he will make a jump just like other guys tgat have been here. Hopefully.

Again, we're talking 3 games here, Burrow and Daniels were SIGNIFICANTLY better player sin year 2 than year 1 here, and Leavitt is 3 games in; missed the entirety of Spring and is with a bunch of people he never even practiced with before fall of this year. We're probably still figuring out his OL, his best receivers, he just lost his best receiver/TE for at least an extended amount of time. On top of all that, he is working his way back from a tough injury.
Obviously he has room for improvement, just weird to me everyone is talking like we need a new QB for next year without a doubt, as it stands right now, its looking more like he'll be back for another season than headed straight to NFL unless he just absolutely blows up the remaining part of the season. Not every QB comes in and just immediately dominates, some guys take some time to settle in and figure things out. Not saying Leavitt will be a heisman contender next year or by later this year, but lets let things play out a little bit before condemning the guy who just even started fully practicing with his new coaches and entirely new team earlier last month.
