There’s only 1 program who has been better than LSU the last 25 years. There’s only 2 programs who would not trade places with LSU since 03, Bama, and maybe Georgia.

For consideration, SEC records for the two years since Kelly arrived at LSU:

Georgia 16-0
Alabama 14-2
LSU 12-4
Ole Miss 10-6
Tennessee 10-6
Missouri 9-7
South Carolina 7-9
Florida 6-10
Kentucky 6-10
Texas A&M 6-10
Auburn 5-11
Mississippi State 5-11
Arkansas 4-12
Vanderbilt 2-14

We need to take the next step for sure, and I’m not exactly confident that it’ll happen this year. But we’ve been pretty damned good in the conference compared to everyone other than UGA and Bama since Kelly got here.

Just a dose of hard reality for everyone whose not an emotional rantard. It’s year 3 and we do not have the talent on defense to compete on the national stage. Most of our defensive starters would not start at Missouri, Ole Miss, or Tennessee. We had to blow up the whole defense after year two which put the rebuild of the team behind schedule, mostly because BK hired one of the worst defensive staffs in SEC history when he got hired. Good news is the new staff is lightyears better and is recruiting at a much higher clip to where I think the defense could be a strength next year and possibly get a lot better by the end of this season. But we are going to take our lumps early in this season and we’ve just had some bad luck so far, injuries to key players and our early opponents being better than we thought. We need to try and retain some pieces on offense for next year but we could be really good by year 4. Just be patient and trust the process.

but that should seriously bother you, right? Year three we should start showing some progress. Year three and we definitely have the look of a team that is Kelly’s worst, (at LSU) by far.
This shite isn't linear, numbnuts. We went to the SEC championship game year one after going 6-7, A LOSING SEASON!.We lost that defense, but we stay even in year two with a heisman winner and crazy offense. Now all that is gone, but we are in the first year of a new defensive coordinator who does not have all the pieces for a top defense. LSU's 2025 defense will be much better than their 2024 current defense. The offense will take a step back, but 2026 the offense and defense should be legit contenders for the national championship. Then rinse and repeat for 2027.

We’re a school in a talent-rich area with 3 natties since 2000 with elite facilities that pays its coaches the highest salaries in the nation.

There’s zero excuse not to be a perennial playoff team now that it’s 12.
That's completely stupid, and im tired of people saying that. We could legit get a draw of Texas, UGA, Bama, Tennessee/Oklahoma, and during these transfer era years, we are never supposed to go below 10-2? There's a chance we go 10-2 and we still don't make it. Let's say we have two ranked teams all schedule and that's the only 2 we lose to. That doesn't auto qualify us.

Ohh we got a big man over here. He gets his rocks off on acting like an internet tough guy. Imagine being such a fricking loser you equate what somebody says on a message board about a football team, as said person accepting mediocrity in life.

Not really because LSU only has two of these six in their schedule. LSU only has to play Ole Miss and Alabama and not Georgia, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee.

No. All things perfect, I would have expected to be in that group but the Matt House fiasco has put us back a year or 2. I agree that its BK's fault for missing on the defensive hires but he has done well enough in other areas that I won't kill him for it. Now he only gets one redo in my book. If we are still going 9-3 in a couple of years then you have to talk about making a change. But as for now, I still think we are going in a positive direction overall even if its not as quickly as many would like.

How many of those teams have played in the SEC championship?-just sayin

Who cares? You are hanging your hat on getting blown out in the SEC championship two years ago instead of talking about the current team.

No this could all be flip flopped by the end of the year. You people need to learn how to wait and see. No one has any clue who anyone is yet. We will soon find out.

Right now, LSU is not in playoff conversations. They will have to win, win, win while others lose to work their way in.
