Poche tonight
Lange Friday
Gilbert Saturday
Poche Monday (on 4 days rest)
Lange Tuesday (3 days rest-not recommended since he is a strict routine guy) so I would go Hess here
Lange Wednesday (4 days rest) or Hess if Lange on Tuesday

If you win game one of series you can give Lange that extra days rest like they did in 09 with Renaudo. Went with Austin Ross game 2. Was right move as Jungman threw a gem and it wouldn't have mattered who LSU threw.

Really hard to project that far without knowing how many guys we need to use in the next 3 games. I doubt Hess would get a start though.

Having to use Gilbert as a starter is really killing our pen... If you're saving Hess for a start on Tuesday, who do you go to in the 6th or 7th when whoever we might be playing starts getting to Poche?

I can't imagine winning the next few games without using Hess late in games.

Bottom line, to win and stay longer, LSU will have to get some solid work from guys like Peterson, Beck, Bain, etc.

If LSU made it to game 3 in the championship round you might see Strall toeing the rubber.

I wish Kiel could have put it together this year.

I'd like to see him throw the third game against OSU provided we make it there.

Same would apply in finals. Hess is intimidating AF right now and could give the team 105-115 pitches if called upon. The hope is he couldspread them out over 7+ innings, the longer the better.

Gilbert is the only reliable arm in the bullpen. Maybe give Austin Bain another shot?

If you want to start Hess on Tuesday that means he won't be able to pitch Friday, Saturday, or Monday most likely.

Have to get there first, then we'll see what happens.

Hess really has to stay in the pen now that Gilbert is starting. He's just about the only guy out of it I trust right now

Hess is going to be used up by this point more than likely. He'll pitch tonight if needed, and agin on Friday if needed, and on Saturday if needed.

Peterson is going to have to pitch if you get into the Finals, IMO...either that, or Newman ends up in a 3-4 inning starter role. You save Poche and Lange for game 2 and 3 and pray for the best.

Poche throws 7, Beck and Newman close and our hitters give us five or six run lead and we " save" Hess would give him more of a chance to start later.

Hitting would help.

If Strall has to toe the rubber LSU should have a 12 run margin in either direction.

ETA: Bain and Beck may be worthy of a few batters each. If Bain can throw strikes he can be extended. Had Cartwright not gotten injured he would have been a godsend. ULL has them a good one there.

Hess won't start if we make it to the championship series because of the innings he will have pitched to get there. Like it or not losing Walker really hurt us.. Peterson will have to step up and give us 5 innings somewhere to have a chance.

Hess's arm will be used as much as the others. Hope for rain Sunday and Monday without Walkers innings.

I think in the Championship series you'll probably see Poche for game one, then game 2 will depend on the outcome. If we win you'll see johnny wholestaff and Lange on wednesday. If we lose you see Lange tuesday and wholestaff wednesday.

Sorry to be all German, I didn't realize Cartwright was going to ULL.

Why do guys that get hurt end up transferring? Is it because of a rule? Or LSU moving on to make room for recruiting/other limitations?

I was thinking about this today. I ask here if anyone had an inkling about how Hess might perform beyond say 3-4 innings?
He has been lights out in his role. I don't have a clue what to expect as a starter. 3 innings? 5? 8?

He had some midweek starts and went 5-6 innings with ease

I think Cartwright gave up baseball. I'm not sure what he meant with his ULL comment.
