Seems the attitude was much more optimistic about a ROAD game against an undefeated AU team than a HOME game against a once-beaten Bama team. Being an LSU fan stuck in AL, I have to hear it from AU and bammer fans enough.

YES But if you think it will be a close game at the end, you have to give the edge to the visitors coaching staff and qb....just sayin, it is what it is.

I am actually 100% confident we will win. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we will win.

A little trick I learned a long time ago watching LSU under Les Miles: -whatever the majority of the fan base thinks will happen in the game, they are wrong. It's a lot easier to make a prediction once you consider that.

I must admit, I sat in a place where I could not see the jumbotron at Jordan-Hare so I was oblivious to the stats. I just knew that we were in the game during the 4th quarter despite our coaching staff and inept QB play.

Can they? Absolutely. Now understand I would give the same answer for Vandy or MSU's chances. LSU is more capable of defeating 'Bama than either of those but "can" and "will" or not closely related. With even a modicum of a passing game the Tigers would be favored to win this game. As it is I think they will cover and I hope they will win. LSU had zero good fortune the last two seasons against these guys and still could have won both games. 'Bama is in for a tussle IMO.

"But if its a close game at the end"
UNC- close game
Vandy- close game til late
WVU- close game
Tenn- close game
UF- close game
Auburn- close game
LSU record- 5-1 in those games
What test late in the game has bama faced and overcome this season that makes you give them the edge?

LSU's O goes mediocre, and D and ST play like they do (D less Auburn), and LSU wins by 3.

LSU's O cannot reach mediocrity, and D and ST play like they do (D less Auburn), and LSU loses by 4 or more.

I am 42.3% positive that LSU O will be mediocre
I am 57.7% positive that LSU O will be less than mediocre, again

We have nothing to lose, and they have everything to lose. This makes me think they'll play cautious/conservative, and we'll throw caution to the wind.

Hence, I think we can win this game...

The fact is, this LSU team is capable of beating every team on it's schedule. However, the body of work through 8 games does not engender much confidence that they will win this game.

Recent history (i.e. the 8 games this season) shows that: TS will be raucous and loud at kickoff. The fans will be supportive and optimistic at the outset, however they are prone to turn on LSU at the slightest setback. The Defense will keep LSU in the game all day. JJ will start at QB and may or may not be somewhat effective. The offense as a whole will struggle.

I, like every fan, hope the trend on offense will change for the better and the Tigers will get a HUGE win and re-gain some national respect. However most fans will take a "show me" not "tell me" approach to Miles and a changed offensive gameplan this week
