Do you think we can roll out a very similar playbook in 2020?

Nobody came close to figuring out or stopping our offense all year. (Auburn game was rainy/muddy and we still gained over 500 yards, i dc what you say, they didn't stop us). Do you think we can roll out a very similar playbook in 2020 and have great success? Assuming Myles is slightly worse than Joe.

This year the philosophy was "pass to set up the run". Not sure they'll be 100% comfortable with Brennan to continue that amount of throwing, so I'm expecting more of a shift back to the "balanced" offense. Brennan could surprise, he'll have all of spring and fall camp to digest whatever changes come to the offense (have to assume there will be some tweaks) so we'll see. Having Chase and Marshall back is going to be really helpful.

Being just slightly worse than Burrow would mean he's a Heisman candidate. If that's the case, then yeah our offense will still probably be good.

Go check our pass to run ratio this season, then get back with us.

You need to be 100% comfortable with your QB to win. If they aren’t 100% comfortable with Brennan get somebody you are all in on.

Just like most things it goes in cycles. We had a scheme last year with some new twist that people were not able to catch up to. With a years worth of film to study I expect for teams to have more success. The good thing, even with what we lost, we still some incredible athletes. This offense allows us to use that. Will we average 45+? Probably not but if we average 35-40 we should still be pretty damn tough to beat!

They really had better have an above average passing game.

Every position group looks like they can return and preform with the same proficiency with the exception of QB and RB. IMO, competition will be stiff all camp at the QB/RB position. A lot of elite talent coming in and you know what we have at the WR position. No excuse for the ball not to get there or for the chains not to move with the QBs legs. The best man will play. Is that Myles? Time will tell.

While that may be true. I’d be willing to bet that if you would look at first half of all the games , we were probably more pass heavy. And the run stats mainly came when we were burning out clock in the 2nd half. I could be wrong, but i don’t think that just looking at pass attempts vs run attempts tell the whole story of our offense’s identity.

They passed more than they ran

do we have any good footage on MylesB during games or spring practices? I have no idea what this guys looks like in game mode. I'm guessing we don't have much to look at and spring training will be very telling....

true, but it is definitely Brennan's job to lose

Brennan has been developing for two years. I am unworried about it. He has nfl talent and seemed to run the offense pretty good. He will get his chance.

I think in the second half of the year is when Burrow showed just how incredible he really is. It's one thing to run a play, read a defense, go through progressions, and hit the open guy. It is a completely different animal to run a play, read a defense, have them take away ALL your reads, improvise for 5-10 seconds and THEN find a guy for a big play.
I think Brennan will be able to do the first part (run the offense as called) but I doubt he will be able to do the second part cuz I have only ever seen Burrow do that.
Don't get me wrong, play calling was great all year but its easy to call plays when you have Burrow cuz every play call works.

Brennan has been developing and practicing for two years with one year being in a new offensive system. I’m not picking on you but I don’t think any of us outside of the coaching staff have any significant sample size to infer any assumptions about his NFL talent. He also has thrown some INTs in scrub time to avoid sacks while showing no scrambling ability or confidence in a collapsing pocket. The off-season is going to be extremely competitive in my opinion because of the standard set by Burrow and coaching staff’s expectations. I think Brennan has the ability/potential but can he beat out the other 3 QBs on the roster is unforeseen at this time.
FYI, Munoz favors mobile QBs who are gritty with cannons for arms.

We were at about a 53/47 pass rush ratio thisnyear
We may see that flip.
My hope is that Rushing production increases even if passing dips a bit.
Realistically, CEH was an amazing back, and he’ll be hard to replace, but we can improve as a rushing unit in 2 ways:
1. Better blocking: CEH broke a frick ton of tackles behind the line, let’s hope we don’t need all our other RBs too.
2. Better production from RB2 and RB3.
CEH rushes for 6.6 YPC
Curry 4.9
Emery 4.8
TPD 4.6
If we can get them all into the 5s and RB1 steps up to the 6 range we’ll be looking good.

My only thought about the run game is whether or not we can rely on running essentially 2 running plays like we did this year. We really only ran Duo or inside zone and then ran some zone reads and RPOs off of those two plays. We didn't have any counters or powers or anything that else that varried from those two concepts. (I follow Seth Galina on Twitter so I'm basically an expert)
