But the points he made were valid. He's 55. Never HC before. Kids in school. Happy here. I doubt Dunn leaves at this point.

That's my poker read too. Some guys just want to coach without the hassle that comes along with being the head coach and Dunn seems like one of them.

Counting this year's season, AC has exactly 2 years of college baseball coaching experience. No way is he ready, at this point, to be a major college HC. In time, yes. As for Dunn, glad to hear, even if it's only an assumption. But according to the ranters here, Dunn & CPM do not get along at all. Based on "facts"

Thankfully, that's only true on the Rant, not in real life.

I believe Alabama is looking to make a homerun baseball hire and I don't think Cannizarro is what they're looking for just yet. Atleast that's what I'm hoping.

I don't care how long he has been a college coach AC is a future star at the college coaching position. For a school like Alabama who just built a new stadium and is trying to bring life back into its once proud baseball program he is a good fit for that. You get it him take the chance and go for it. I wouldn't be in for an unproven head coach at LSU but LSU doesn't need a guy to sell the program they just need a coach. The people are going to show up no matter what.

Did you say this before Smoke Laval was hired?

I'd be much more worried about losing Cannizaro to Tulane than I would to Alabama.

You usually don't that big of a jump that quickly. Look at Rooney who was doing this much longer than AC. He will have to establish himself at a school like Tulane before a major school gives him a chance.

Bama isn't going to take that big of a risk on a hire. They will get someone who has already been a head coach before.

Skip Bertman did not have head coaching experience when he came to LSU.

Probably not. I would think that Dunn would be higher on their list than him.

And before LSU hired him the LSU baseball coach's position was a part time job.

ETA: I just looked it up and Skip's immediate predecessor was Jack Lamabe. Lamabe was considered to be the "first full-time LSU baseball coach." Prior to Lamabe, Jim Smith was the baseball coach and I know from working with his son that Coach Smith was definitely part time with the baseball team while his primary year-round job at LSU was working in the football equipment room.

Now it's like 3 full time jobs by itself.

i'm not sure you are correct but Skip Bertman had been at Miami for awhile and had much more responsibility for their program than Cannizzaro does here. it was obvious he was ready.

for those thinking 2 years of asst. coaching is all that is needed I would have to say the kid could ruin his career if he got in over his head and flamed out. he would be better served as an asst head coach and learn the ropes first and then probably going to a smaller program.
