Do you think that Cannizzaro will be in the running for the Gumps job?

I know the chances of him being here for the long haul are slim to none and I hate to use the "coach in waiting" statement. Would be a major bummer seeing him go to the Gumps!!

No.

But he would be on Tulane's radar should their coach get either the Bama or Tejas gig.

It will be a big loss for us and I hate it just because it's Bama. But in reality, it's probably one of the best opportunities for a young coach like Cannizzaro. I'm afraid he is gone if offered...

I would expect that Alan Dunn and Mark Calvi would be on the top of their list.

All great up and coming coaches will one day take the next step as a head coach somewhere. It will stink to see him go, but when PM decides to hang it up, I am willing to bet he would would jump at the opportunity to lead the Tigers one day. That is if he is a candidate for the position when that happens.

I realize that both Dunn and Cannizzaro are both really good coaches but why would Bama not hire a guy who is a proven HC?

I doubt Alabama would be inclined to hire an assistant coach who has never had head coaching experience unless his name is Alan Dunn.

Was said yesterday on 104.5 that Dunn does not want to be a head coach. His kids are in school in Baton Rouge and he is very happy in his position here.

Vandy
Florida
Louisville
Virginia
South Carolina
Texas A&M

How much prior HC experience did their head coaches have?

That's good to hear.

Matt Riser would probably be on their list as well. Maybe Goff at Tech, he's done well at two stops now.

I'd be more worried about the below 2 scenarios.

1. TCU's coach, Jim Schlossnagle, gets Texas job and takes Cannizzaro with him. They are great friends and Texas may elect to pay him more than LSU. Schlossnagle served an eight-year stint at Tulane as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Green Wave while he played there.

2. Tulane job opens up and I hear he is their #1 candidate.

Sucks we could lose our top 2 assistants after this season.

Bama should be good enough to get a sitting head coach with experience.

I think that weighs against Cannizaro.

I definitely can see Tulane coming after him if Pierce bolts.

If Cannizaro stays at LSU longer, I bet he could name his job.

That was an assumption Bregman was making. It doesn't mean he's not going for certain.

But the points he made were valid. He's 55. Never HC before. Kids in school. Happy here. I doubt Dunn leaves at this point.

If Cannizzaro gets an interview he will talk to people. Anyone who doesn't hire him would be a fool. He's the reason our first year players are hitting like veterans.

If LSU does lose Dunn, go get Henderson as pitching coach or where did Holiday end up from Auburn.

Then I misspoke on him. I had assumed he had only been a Clemson assistant before taking over Vandy.

I don't think we want a guy that got his whole staff fired for breaking NCAA rules.

Well apparently Dunn and Cannizaro are taking a co-head coaching position at Bama from what I've read on the rant this week.
