This is Miles last year, and we aren't getting either one of those guys.

There are a bunch of good, disciplined coaches out there. I am in favor of either, but not necessary to show great improvement

Do you still support Miles being let go if Herman/Fisher are off the table? by slackster

It has to happen regardless. There is no reason to wait any longer.

Dude, more than half of the coaches in CF can coach better than this guy. And most of you are just realizing that now?

I'm fine with it happening mid practice
Just clean out his office
No reason to wait. Nothing changes. Saturday was the norm not the exception

Yes. He had this season to turn things around.
He either wins the SEC of he has to go.
We can't wait any longer. He has not lost an SEC
game yet so its still up to him.

I think some of you are misunderstanding that point. People aren't suggesting Miles needs to stay, but the idea is that a plan with more than adequate replacements should also be in place when you make that move. You shouldn't just toss a coach out and figure out the rest when you get there so to speak.
There in lies your problem. You can't refuse change because the next guy may be worse. If anything, LSU was in a position last year to make the right step and give a new coach a legitimate to hit the ground running. Now, LSU will hire someone that will likely have to rebuild a decimated roster by graduation and early defections on top of wasting another recruiting class.
In the end, fear of the unknown is what has cost LSU and is exactly why Les is a horrible coach right now. He refuses to make wholesale change and thinks the issues are a simple minor adjustment away.
Holding on to Bowden, Fulmer, and Mack Brown too long is a huge reason those programs took time to bring back if at all.
LSU owes Miles absolutely nothing yet some fans think Miles made some huge sacrifices for LSU. He never did, period. He was overpaid from the beginning and remains overpaid.
The fact that people actually claim he deserves a statue are the ones that crack me up. Guy has received over $33 Million from LSU not counting this year, so pardon those of us that have little sympathy for Mr. "Has a Want".

What absolute horshite! God, I hope the decision makers at LSU don't think like this. The formula has been to hire a proven head coach from a FBS level program that has been a consistent winner. That formula has resulted in the best 16 years of LSU football, the winningest stretch in program history, with two national championships.
Why on earth would you numbnuts want to hire a DC, or Kiffen, or Frank Wilson, or anyone unproven? Why? Just why? (Ignorance, that's why.)

Did I say not to hire a proven coach with some type of record? The point is just because you may not land a sure thing guy like Saban or Fisher, doesn't mean you hold onto Miles.
That was the point. I was referring to not firing Les for fear the next guy my not be as good. Do your homework, and he will be. There is very little special about Les compared to some other coaches.

Depends on how the season turns out. If turns out to be as it appears it will be, yes.

That isn't my suggestion so I'm probably not making myself clear. I shouldn't have used Miles because I already said he should be out regardless of the replacement. My point is that sometimes firing the coach SHOULD be done based on who else you can get. There are programs out there that have to be realistic, for instance. It isn't some hard and fast rule -

You don't fire a coach based on who you can get to replace him. You fire him based on his performance or lack thereof.
It may apply at LSU this year, but it isn't always the case.

Miles was a poor choice to begin with. He fell into a field of dreams built by Saban. This state recruits itself and he has been riding talent that he cannot develope. He is still a poor coach and knows it. If he knew a better way to play offense he would do it but he does not.
