If they would just do a few of them a year it would be ok. But they make it a point to force one in every week.

It’s like 1 or 2 three minute stories on a show that is what, 3 hours? 4 hours? Suck it up.

YES. H8 ‘em.

Also dislike repeated pix of Burrow’s dad and the other QB’s mom/grammy etc.

Just show the game. And the cheerleaders.

“Integration, breaking news for 54 years and counting.”
Not to mention stories about how Katrina messed up a kid’s life when was 4. Cue blues harmonica.

I never realized it until you posted this, but yes so annoying. I don’t give a shite about any of those stories when watching football.

One of the reasons aside from not really having all day to sit in front of the TV that I never watch. It also ruins olympics coverage, though with the NBC app that has become easier to avoid.

Yes. Everyone is pumped for Saturday and football and they hit you with a story about a kid who's allergic to ice cream and recess.

Give it it's own timeslot on another day.

People who are watching just for the sports will keep watching because we like sports. People who are "eh" on sports but love sob stories will watch and then maybe get interested in the sports too. It's all about the ratings.

This is the prevailing mindset right now in our society and it doesn’t actually work like that. In reality, it waters down their product and makes people like me (I.E. their target market) stop watching Gameday because they don’t want to be depressed on a Saturday morning.

People who want to watch sports will put on ESPN with the expectation of watching sports. People who want to watch dramas will turn on Lifetime, and very few people who are predisposed to watch Lifetime are going to switch to ESPN because they want “sportier” dramas.

It’s been proven time and time again that huge corporations who water down their best product without creating a subsidiary in favor of trying to scrape new business fail in the long run, and ESPN isn’t financially healthy right now. It’s a shitty idea and a shitty mindset

I get it. You have to make sure you don't have testicular cancer. You could be on one of those stories one day.

They need to cut the show to an hour and a half; two hours max and get rid of the fluff.

Have you also noticed that they try to cram a romance story into action movies these days? Like, I just want to see the car chases, the falcon punches and the pew pew. Keep the icky kissing to the RomComs. Ewwww. /s

Seriously, your post is less “get off my lawn” than it is “I’m entirely new as a consumer of entertainment business, and I have no idea how things work.”

I feel the same way about the sob stories as I felt about homecoming in HS and college. Get these damn prom dresses off my field, this ain’t what we’re here for.

Quite honestly unless LSU is the subject of it I don't watch it at all. Most of the time it is a love fest with Bama, USCw, Notre Dame, Ohio St, or Micheeegan!
