He ignored a pedophile. Didn’t we just have a huge problem with sexual harassment and ignoring what took place?

Me either. The man made them a powerhouse and 100% didn’t cover up a sex offender. The kid made an awful mistake but that was never supposed to resurface like it did. Just a bad situation overall

You do not find it troubling that Casey trotted out a known registered sex offender to pitch for Oregon St.?

Kid made an awful mistake? How would you feel had that been your six-year old daughter?

Turned a blind eye to a pedophile. He's not the only coach who could win here. Next coach.

Especially since we're already under a cloud for sexual misconduct.

He’s 63. Hasn’t coached in 3 years. Just a couple things off the top of my head....

The fact that there is even an ounce of doubt that he may or may not have known about the incident before the guy arrived on campus is enough for me.

The incident happened when he was 15 and the sentencing happened when he was 16. You mean to tell me that he wasn’t being recruited at all during that time period?

If you do not understand how inappropriate this hire would be, there is something mentally wrong with you…

He’s pretty much the college baseball version of Joe Pa.

Sorry I could only give one upvote for that comment. It is absolutely spot on, and he shouldn’t even be a candidate for that sole reason. It just makes no sense. You can do MUCH better, Woody....

May have to do with the fact he is currently retired and probably for a reason. We just suffered through a coach that waited too long to retire and the program became stale. Pulling a guy (albeit obviously a great coach) out of retirement to replace a retiring coach. Just doesn’t get the excitement going.

I'm Catlic. It doesn't absolve Casey for his actions regarding Heinrich, if anything it makes it worse due to Casey's " devout religiousness "

Who cares about that whole "forgiveness of sins" thing, am I right?

According to this article he pled guilty in 2011. That would make him much younger than 15 if he was in college in 2017.

The incidents (plural) began when he was 13 and she was 4. They continued until he was 15.

But it was just a “mistake” according to another poster.

Is it okay for the coach to try and help the young man out? Try and give him a chance at resumption? Of his the head coach supposed to say, “I didn’t know you when this thing happened (allegedly), but I’m going to ruin any chance you have at every having a future in baseball“ (which he lost millions because of this)?

If he didn’t know about this at the time he recruited Heimlich, which I personally don’t believe, the conversation should’ve went something a long the lines of “this is something you should have disclosed to me years ago I’m sorry I’ve got to cut you loose.”
