I mean you can’t just use that excuse for every private school.

He’s better at building a roster

I agree. But he was at multiple CWS same as Vandy. They had similar trajectories along the same time frame. I think it’s an even comparison, assuming he took advantage of the academic scholarship thing- he may not have. I’m just throwing that out there

I just don’t understand what point you’re trying to make. Are you saying that he’s not as good as Corbin? Like if Jay had coached at Baylor do you think he would be beating Vandy and making CWS Finals?

For starters..He’s in year 1 at Texas and has a better team than LSU. He also built the roster that had A&M preseason #1

What has he won?

A ton of games in his career.
A series against LSU and a sweep against the team that just swept LSU. Also, what looks like an SEC regular season title, 60 % of the way through the conference schedule, with what should be an easy trip to Omaha after.

Just saying that it’s hard to say he would have had multiple natties at Texas when he couldn’t punch the ticket for one at TCU with built in advantages that were available to him despite multiple trips to the CWS. I just don’t see how being at Texas, title history or not, would have somehow put him over the mark. That’s just my opinion. We can agree to disagree.

considering Rice, Tulane, Vandy, Miami & TCU were all pretty elite at baseball and making routine trips to supers & Omaha pre-nil and only Vandy and TCU are the only two that’s stayed competitive I think you can.

So he hadn’t won a championship either. Which was the point I was responding to

His TCU teams just weren’t quite good enough to win a championship. I mean if Jay coached at Baylor for 15 years and had the same accomplishments as Schloss did at TCU, I’d say that’s impressive. And I’d probably say he could have won multiple championships at LSU if he had coached there instead of Baylor for 15 years.

Good thing he didn’t come to LSU, because he seems like the kind of guy who would have bolted to Texas anyways.

This right here. His swinger partner is the AD at Texas and Schloss would have left LSU like he left Aggy.

So if you haven't won it all you aren't good enough to coach here? With that logic the options for Woodward to hire would've been guys like Corbin, O'Sullivan, Lemonis, and O'Connor. Not only slim pickings but also wouldve been much worse hires than Jay.
Schloss is a complete dick bag and I would never want him at LSU but he's obviously a very good coach with the jobs he's done at TCU, A&M, and Texas

Jesus Christ…. Talk about making shite up. No one said he isn’t good enough to coach here. This thread implies we should’ve hired him over the guy that won you a championship which is asinine. Especially when we’re fighting for a top 8 seed.

I’m confused as to what point you are trying to make with that statement. There are 100+ private division 1 schools and you named 5 that were “elite”. Btw, Tulane has only made Omaha twice and has only won a regional 3 times… so I’m not sure I would consider that elite.

And Jay’s tenure at LSU has been better than Schloss at A&M

I'm convinced that our fanbase would prefer to have an exciting regular season coach like Van Horn or Schloss instead of winning titles occasionally.

A shite load of games and multiple CWS appearances. Same as Schloss. Would we have had Skenes and Crews without Jay? Who knows. But this what about bullshite everytime LSU loses a game is fricking mind numbing.
