Or at least do some basic research before commissioning the project. But, no.

Our colors are purple and gold. Those aren’t good colors for LED lights.
ONLY purple is fine.
We just aren’t smart enough to do that.
Gold LED - WTF?

I guess I was more concerned about what was happening on the field than the lights. I did like the new scoreboard in the north endzone though.

Yep. That's how you do it. Surely, LSU looked at examples of other schools' light shows, like UGA, Bama, and Tennessee.
Nope.
LSU is known for being a decade behind on trends and only doing it half-arse when it’s finally incorporated.

If they were going to do the whole LED light thing half-arse, they shouldn't have done it at all.
As someone with a lot of experience in bidding on public sector jobs, the contractors who end up winning these types of projects aren’t usually the best ones, they’re the ones who are the best at bullshitting LSU’s purchasing dept and convincing them that they did a great job at a dirt cheap price and that the lights they put up there were the best on the market even though they look like shite. The company who installed them has probably never legitimately done a job that big

They are saving the real LED light display for SEC play.

Bamas is badass for sure.

Also, they left the ribbon lights on with the ads
That’s the most LSU thing ever. Gotta squeeze every fricking drop of juice out.

You must of left at half time
It has to be dark to work

This excerpt is talking about color mixing using RGB LEDs. There’s no reason you have to use RGB LEDs though.
Nowadays many stage lights are using “hex” LEDs instead of “tri” LEDs. This means that they use amber, white, and UV diodes in addition to the typical R/G/B. The amber and white diodes are specifically used to shore up weaknesses of traditional RBG fixtures. Pure whites and warm whites are often problematic for RGB fixtures, and white/amber diodes largely fix that issue. UV is more for effect, though.. I’m not sure it really helps with color reproduction.
The point is that if you’re installing LED lights in a place like Tiger Stadium where you know you need purple and gold, you should have dedicated purple and gold (amber) diodes. It’s absolutely technically feasible. But I have no idea whether that’s how they actually did it.

Was this project bid in the public sector?

Nebraska did a phenomenal job with theirs. Makes us look like complete idiots

Unfortunately, ours looked nothing like this

which part? the lights or the fact that we barely had anyone in the stands by the time it was dark enough to use the LED's?

Today, LSU emailed a game survey to season ticket holders about game experience. I commented about shitty light show and need to be synchronized with the music and ribbon boards. Less white lights and more purple
I would have to see more but IMHO the new ribbon is so bright that it overpowers the LED effect. It is not a big deal to me because the light changes screw with my vision but I can close my eyes if it gets bad enough to me.

The LED lights are BLINDING if you're sitting on the east or west stadium sides. I had to hold my arm over my eyes and the people behind me were wearing sunglasses (which I will bring from now on). The blinking is enough to give you a seizure.
I've been to BDS and Sanford. They did the lights professionally and it adds to the stadium experience. I agree with all of the posters here who were at the game. It is a total waste of money and takes away from the game experience at Tiger Stadium.

Game experience sucks.
1. Turkish prison like bathrooms
2. Concessions are subpar, kids got nachos that had about 5 chips and were stale.
Not accepting cash sucks when sending kids to get something.
What happened to the church groups working the stands? The people at the concession stand in my section looked like they had been procured from a Lowe’s parking lot.
3. Light show was an absolute joke.
I’ve been to every stadium in the sec and our experience is one of the worst and probably why people don’t hang around. Like it or not, but now you’re competing with big screen TVs/convenience of home….you need to give people they won’t get there.
