re: Did Deich pimp his homerun or something? What was the catcher's issue?

Yet the Maryland guy that hit the first homer in the first had to return to second and touch the base...so his pace around the bases was even slower...
Hey, the right fielder thought he would catch it...

And the sport has a problem with the showboating not the intentionally trying to hurt someone. Kind of backwards thinking huh?

That's been part of the game since Ty Cobb.

Doesn't make it right.

You're right, it doesn't make it right but it's as much a part of baseball as fighting is in hockey. All baseball players respect the implied reprisal for their actions.
If a pitcher threw close to Cobb it's said he would drag bunt the next pitch and run over the pitcher covering first.

Cobb took no prisoners in the ballfield.
All of the unspoken rules of the game are perfect if you ask me. I don't think Deichman broke any of the unspoken rules though. Not that I saw. That catcher just had enough of his team getting dominated.

"Pimp his homerun"? Are you a 13 year old with white sunglasses and a flat bill hat?
Wanna know how I can bet you have never played organized baseball in your life?

That is dumb. Not saying players dont see it that way, but watching or not running fast around the bases enough seems like silly reasons to get upset.
You guys are worse than the NFL

This. You hit a HR. Congratulations. You're that good, you're supposed to hit HRs. Get around the bases. It's poor sportsmanship. Have a little class. Act like you've hit a HR before and that you'll do it again.
Then don't ever fist pump or yell out when you strike someone out as a pitcher. What's good for the goose...

Exactly. He was being a bitch because his team was getting their shite pushed in.
If Deichmann bat flipped, stood admiring, then slow trotted, then the catcher could say something... when you're getting your arse beat, shut up and don't try to be tough when your pitcher really isn't getting shown up.

I now wish Deichmann would have bat flipped into the stratosphere. These are unpaid 18-21 year old kids. Let them have fun. Don't like a guy admiring a 450' yard bomb, pitch better.

All these people talking about how it's classless to pimp a home run need to watch a KBO game.
If you hit a moon shot on a guy and don't bat flip, he'll be offended. Because they make baseball fun.

If you watch the replay you can kind of see him take an extra second to watch it. Like literally 1 extra second. Not five and he didnt do anything at all after that but run around the bases with his head down at a normal jog. Complete bitch move by the Maryland catcher.
Posted on 2/27/17 at 1:54 pm to roger79
Because he shite all over that pitch and hit another one out the stadium for the second time in the series.... Also because the catcher thought he pimped it... Which anyone else would have done as well.

It's funny to me you can't admire a homerun but you can make all kinds of gestures after a double and no one bats an eye.
Hell marylands leadoff hitter went through some spastic routine after one of his doubles.

Exactly! "Sorry I just drop diddies all over your pitching staff. I'm just a better than you." - Greg Deichmann

This was a non-event! Makes it sound like you're the pimp.
