Denbrock did a good job for us, so I wish him the best.

He is moving much closer to home and to a place he's been before. Baton Rouge definitely isn't for everyone.

Also, Denbrock has had a nice career, but has been most successful with mobile QBs (Ridder, JD5). Notre Dame bringing in Riley Leonard will give him that mobile QB.

I hate losing assistants who make lateral moves, but this one is pretty understandable.

I was never a big fan. We will be fine. I remember all of us roasting Denbrock for his play calling before Daniels really broke out. Daniels made Denbrock and was 99% of his offense. He will fall flat on his face at ND with inferior athletes. We are LSU with the best athletes in the country. We should attract a big time OC for sure.

Who knows what his drivers are, but I’ve got to believe the crime in BR certainly didn’t help things at a minimum. BR has the worst crime by far of any SEC school city, and it’s not even close, and SB Indiana
smashes BR in every standard of living statistic too.

Do they know he is not bringing Jayden Daniels with him?

He is striking while the iron is hot just like Joe Brady did when he parted ways with Joe Burrow.

This feels like he straight up didn’t wanna live in Baton Rouge. Or Texas.
Fine then. Go have fun being mid up there

Why would Denbrock downgrade himself like that?

Put house as oc.

He has shown he can upgrade any offense.

His hometown is an hour and a half away from South Bend and he spent over 25 years coaching in the Midwest with the most time spent between Grand Valley State (Michigan), Notre Dame, and Cincinnati.

He doesn't want to be a HC. The bottom line is with NIL and the landscape of college football. It's all about the money, and as bad as we don't want to admit it. ND is a much bigger brand. They are national brand, we are reginal. Things better change or we are in trouble.

LSU was rated by the Wall Street Journal and a number of other publications as a top 5 College Program in terms of value.

LINK

This is a pretty good article from Medium.com that combines a bunch of different metrics and values LSU as the 6th most valuable program, with ND 4th.

Regardless, LSU is absolutely a National brand, and easily one of the most valuable.

In the "what have you done for me lately" age, LSU gives both its players and coaches a platform to showcase their abilities.

If they hold up their end of the bargain, the sky is the limit, and this Denbrock hire is proof of that. He gets to go home, with a really nice payday.

If LSU promotes Sloan, we will have that continuity that Kelly values, while retaining the real star of this offensive staff.

Sloan is younger, has playcalling experience, and without some kind of promotion would likely have been poached by someone to run their offense. He also coaches QB, is a far more active recruiter, and is the next great offensive mind in college football. I could not be any higher on Sloan.

Denbrock was extremely successful this season, and will always be thankful for his work here during his tenure.

It may come off as opium, but this will turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Losing Denbrock and keeping House is a massive massive massive failure. It’s the top offense losing its OC and the worst defense keeling it’s DC

There is no possible other way to spin this

His hometown is not far from South Bend, prolly has old parents and wants to be close to home. Really never know what is in peoples minds. Our fault though cause he agreed to an extension already but we can’t do anything till the board approves it and they don’t meet again till February, I mean we couldn’t have had an emergency meeting that too hard on these rich fricks or something?

Good post, and I hope you're right. But as someone who is really big into college football. LSU has my heart, and we've won Natty more recently then most. BUT...I don't consider LSU on the same page as ND, Mich, OSU, Bama, Texas, Oklahoma or even USC. Those teams a true blue bloods with a national following. Which is something I've always been okay with...It's like the little brother that kicks arse.

Perfect game for Joe Sloan to openly audition for the job if it’s not filled/announced by then

Sloan seems like a no brainer here. BK has precedent with this as well, promoted Tommy Rees from QB coach to OC after 1-2 seasons taking over for Chip Long

Also opens up a coaching spot. Guessing that is used on the defensive side of the ball and we end up with either 2 coaches for DBs or two coaches for DL

This is totally understandable. Denbrock is getting paid to move where he wants to retire. There is a slim chance he ever repeats what he did this year and he doesn’t have that much time before he reaches retirement age. He is a good OC but he looked great because of Jayden and the receivers. Kelly will get a good OC and LSU has an extra $2M. I’m thinking the reason no offer was finalized because LSU wanted the money and knew it could get someone equivalent. They may even be impressed enough with Sloan to simply promote him. I’m sorry to see him go but not overly concerned. We were never concerned when this happened when Saban was HC. We rightly worried when this happened to O and Miles. We don’t need to be concerned with Kelly.
