Why would he pick a lateral move to a program hampered by academic standards in recruiting?

EASIER PATH to the playoffs, year after year. Gets more money for success or get HC gig because of the "playoff" success, and more MONEY!

Most likely has been recruited heavily by Joe Sloan so can't imagine it will hurt it much.

he's 59, he still lives there and he's making the same if not more money to be home.

easy decision honestly.

From Cincy to ND to LSU...Dude is solid as a rock.

Except for that time when his offense sucked in 2016 and BK demoted him so he left. Otherwise... rock solid.

I mean, fricking South Bend Indiana ? Whatever.

I mean it’s a pretty damn beautiful place to work and live. Especially if you have ties there. I drove to the campus last summer while at a conference a few hours away and was surprised by how much I actually liked it. A lot nicer than Baton Rouge and I’m from Louisiana.

Joe Brady, please.

He’s not leaving Buffalo. He’s been killing it since taking over for Dorsey. The Bills are going to give him a nice raise and extension soon.

This guy doesn’t like a guy that would enjoy the south.

He grew up two hours from Notre Dame in Michigan, wife is from New York, and their son was born in Ohio. Midwesterners seem to hate it down here.

There has to be an under the table agreement that he will be HC in short order, or this move makes absolutely no sense.
Maybe he’s content being an OC closer to home. He can also help mentor their young up and coming head coach Freeman. Obviously Freeman seems to be doing a pretty good job but he’s young and could use an experienced guy around the football offices.

We wanted Freeman as a DC, went to ND.

He didn’t go to ND. He was already there. He chose to be the head coach of ND over being DC at LSU. What a stupid fricking post.

Wrong you dipship, we tried to bring him to LSU to be the DC while he was at Cincinnati. BK pulled him to ND. He didn't follow to LSU to be the DC.

Well, I expected some coaching changes, but on the defensive side.

I'd say Ridder made him, that's how he was able to come to here. But whatever.

I’ve never been less concerned about the quality of the hire as far as the replacement. There’s great options on staff and there will be quality options reaching out to Brian Kelly for the position. Like Saban, Miles, Orgeron and Denbrock, LSU has been a very good and prosperous place to work.
