My only regret about his famous Auburn game catch is that I was watching with friends at their house and I couldn’t watch the final play so I held my head down and just listened to the tv. What I heard next was beautiful.

Years and years ago, circa 2010 i saw him in a coffee shop and said “hows it going d byrd?”.
He looked at me like he wanted to punch me in the face. It was super awkward. All i could think is he doesnt like being called d byrd…. But thats what everyone called him right?
Cant generalize from that one encounter but he certainly seemed to have a little rage in him

I was at a party that he was at back in 2007, and he and another couple guys sat on the couch and pulled out a bag of white powder and proceeded to dump a little bit on the coffee table and start to organize it into lines, and that was when I kinda was like - welp, this ain't none of my business, and went mingle with other people there.

I know an ex-LSU player that dumped his wife of close to 20 years and allowed an ex-teammate (not LSU) to infiltrate said household, bring in other people of questionable character/criminal backgrounds to ex-LSU's house, Infiltrator appointed another much younger woman as ex-LSU's wife before the divorce happened...

Ex-LSU is called the Archangel, Infiltrator is called Elohim, and Infiltrator's wife is called Queen of Israel.
Younger men in the household are instructed to discipline others, which includes hitting people, shaving heads and making people sleep in tents in the backyard for disobeying house rules.
"Elohim" had a non legal "wife" that he got pregnant and committed domestic abuse against her, which is a felony in Florida. DA let him off with no serious repercussions since he had no priors. "Elohim" also makes people living in the house that belongs to ex-LSU pay him a tithe of 10% of their income, including ex-LSU who has a business in Tampa.
I met ex-LSU and his Wife #1 @ the 2019 SEC game and have been following (not a member) of this cultlike behavior since.
Infiltrator/"Elohim" has Facebook broadcasts of himself preaching every Sunday and sometimes ex-LSU does some preaching on other days.
Before infiltration by cult members, I stayed at ex-LSU's house one night before a cruise out of Tampa. Wife #1 had already moved out but their 2 youngest kids were at the house the night I was there.
Ex-LSU and I talked about his religious beliefs and he had said that he would like to move to Israel. What is going on now is like the Black Hebrew Israelites where women wear head coverings and ex-LSU has an unkempt beard and long dreadlocks, completely different from when I met him and Wife #1 in Atlanta 2019. Most of the men look similar.
DByrd had a car accident and played football. Ex-LSU played at the minimum, high school, college and pro.
Both DByrd and ex-LSU/"Archangel" are crazy in different ways.
As far as the details of ex-LSU, I hope his family can test his brain for CTE if he passes before they do. I know that the destruction of his first family has hurt his parents, Wife #1 and the 4? kids from that marriage.

C'mon Demetrius Byrd say it ain't so - the architect of the "Bluegrass Miracle" arrested in Florida for making threats on a bus.
I'm stunned. Dang, I thought he finished a lucrative NFL career and was doing LSU promos. You know parlaying name recognition into a lucrative post-NFL career.

I met DByrd during the 2019 Natty run. Think I also ran into him on LSU's campus post game.
He was always nice to me.

Just a friendly correction for the younger fans: Devery Henderson was the guy on that play. Amazing focus! Later became my all-time favorite Saints receiver.

Strangely, few people noticed or recalled afterward that when LSU called a timeout in the 4th quarter, the clock operator let the clock run several seconds after the ref signaled timeout. I recall because I looked at my date and complained the clock was still running after the timeout was signaled. The time wasn’t added back by the refs. There should have been several more seconds on the clock, but for the clock operator’s slow response earlier in the 4th quarter. But had he stopped the clock when he should have, the ending would not have been nearly as legendary.
