Then make their arse employees with contracts and buyouts! They should be responsible for all cost of living and school.
Athletic scholarships are one year contracts that must be renewed at the end of the school year. A coach can process players if he or she feels that person isn’t performing to a certain standard. A player can have that same right.

Because the majority that chime only read click bait, and don’t think for themselves.

Lmao. Yea. It couldn’t be he didn’t like where he was at. No way. Not big game Kelly.
Well, I guess that's possible, but the rest of the team seemed really happy at the bowl game when they were cutting up. And Kelly spoke extremely well of Tolan. You can't please every player though (see Bech). Tolan got some pretty good playing time as a freshman, but maybe he felt he'd be overshadowed at LSU while playing with a superstar like Perkins and then Freeze came in offering $$.

It really has. The “student” athlete controls all of the cards now. They get a free ride to school. They get NIL deals. Many get paid under the table in addition to a legitimate NIL deal. They control the bidding war that goes on between schools vying for their commitment (a word that should be banned in the recruiting world for good). And, if things don’t go well they get to quit and give another “commitment “ to a new school. And even if things go well, a coach still has to recruit the player to stick around.
Which increases scrutiny & takes the "we're just College kids" excuses away.

I have no doubt Auburn tampered. He was at Auburn less than 24 hrs after hitting the portal, but Tolan not even traveling to the bowl game tells you his status at LSU wasn’t certain. More to the story here than Auburn buying a starting linebacker.

Everyone is surely tampering. It is what it is. Definitely in Auburns DNA

Remains to be seen…he has to go through plenty on the same or similar tier as his program. Not to mention LSU, Alabama, and Georgia. I’d project it to be like Ole Miss, 8-9 wins a year.

And the NCAA is just sitting back doing nothing.
This part is what all of us need to stop mentioning. The NCAA can't do anything. They have no power of subpoena, no way to force people to talk and no leg to stand on if they go after the big boys. The big boys are in the shoe, insurance, tv companies pockets without the NCAA being involved. That means if shite hit the fan all those companies would just buy the big schools right out of the NCAAs grasp and the money racket the NCAA has always been would be dried up. Why would they harm their ability to make money hand over fist for just existing? They won't. They'll continue to throw bullshite punishments at schools that have no power to break away on their own while at the same time letting the big boys do what they want while collecting their percentage of the checks. LSU basketball should be grateful the NCAA is hamstrung. 20 years ago the NCAA would've decimated it's ability to compete due to Wades actions.

You couldn’t transfer and play immediately without a hardship or a college degree, nor could you legally pay players.
This isn’t a gotcha moment like you think it is

Hasn’t been that way in awhile in the SEC. The SEC, and the rest of the P5, have guaranteed 4 year scholarships. It will become an NCAA rule beginning the 2023-24 school year
quote:
The NCAA has clarified new rules that provide financial aid guarantees to transfers from four-year colleges whose championship eligibility first occurs in the 2023-24 academic year and beyond. The amount of financial aid provided during the first year of the scholarship must be the minimum provided in subsequent years. That aid is guaranteed through the end of the athlete’s five-year clock or until they graduate, whichever occurs sooner, unless they transfer again or engage in professional athletic opportunities. For example, if a school provides a 40% scholarship in year 1, it cannot offer less than 40% in the other years. Athletes may not voluntarily release their scholarships.

Portal and new transfer rule was official Oct '18 about the time Jeaux demolished UGA.

I mean, it's a stupid post given Burrow's individual situation and how he came to transfer to LSU compared to many of the transfers out there now, but it's probably not even in the top half of the most retarded posts that I see on this board. If we banned people for retarded posts on this board, there would only be a few posters left.

GTFO. Go watch the NFL you hack.
Not even the NFL is this wide open free-for-all. They have contracts and stipulations.
Get that. Not even NFL players have this much leverage and they have a fricking players Union and are the best of the best.
The NCAA is trying to kill the sport.
