quote:are they really the first ones to think of that? since the beginning of NIL i figured those collectives pissing their money away would’ve had the foresight to sign deals like this one. Why is everyone else paying players millions of dollars to go to their chosen school when they can just sign another million dollar deal in a year to be signed away to another schoolquote:
Leases are 6 months & are voided if player transfers or eligibility expires
Thinking ahead.

Well consider me mentally deficient. Full time job my arse.
It really is. Warm up, practice a couple hours, film study, lift weights, most then have to hit training room for something or another. Nearly every day.
And then obviously Saturday is a full day. Much less the time it takes to travel to away games.
Add up those hours in a week. And yeah you still have to go to class. Yes the amount of time studying varies from person to person. The rest above isn’t optional
You can argue about what all of that time is worth. But the amount of time spent isn’t very debatable.

I sure hope the dealer or NIL collective has the liability worked out when some player gets a DUI or some other serious crime while driving around in one of *their* trucks.

No way they don’t draft some type of regulations. NIL is not even close to being used the way it was intended to be used.
The collective model is not sustainable long term.

How are each player's name, image or likeness involved?

I wonder what the fine print on these types of things are? Like over alloted miles, wear and tear, etc.

No consideration needed. Done.

Car dealerships have been leasing out cars to athletes since the 1970s. This is nothing new. Only new thing is the 85th guy on the roster getting something

That truck looks like some roofer or landscaper contractor’s get up with all the signage.
Hahaha…

scholarship money is what they are supposed to be getting. that was always the deal for plating sports in college. now it is getting out of hand.

So how exactly do you know which truck to get into when you return to the parking lot?

Kiss college traditions good bye, it’s over
The universities started this years ago when they sold their soul to TV. They got hooked on the money and started needing more and more.
Coaches began making big money, administrators began making big money, more staff was hired and the payrolls increased.
Facilities had to be built and there were millions coming in to build them and pay the larger payrolls. TV was the enabler of all this.
It was only natural that the players would see all this and want some of the pie.
Of course we knew deals were being made under the table, but what we didn’t know was how lucrative it could be to all the athletes and not just the star football and MBB players.

NIl is a net negative imo.
It’s especially bad for the smaller markets like Baton Rouge. Sure a kid can hook up with Gatorade or other national brand but a lot of the money comes from local business.
Look at the sec today. Not the powerhouse it was. Kids are going where the money is. Bigger markets. Ohio. Michigan, california, Texas, Florida….
Not Louisiana, alabama, Mississippi, arkansas…. Our pockets are simply not that deep.
And is it even worth it for the business? Maybe. Some kids are reliable and uphold their end of the deal but other kids have no intention of doing squat. They just want a check.
Also consider that these kids have to enter into a contract with a business. What happens when they breach the terms? Will they get sued?
Some companies won’t care but others will drop out of the NIL program altogether. Business needs to make money. Not throw it around to support a sports team with no return on the “investment”.
Kids are being paid to be popular. It’s delusional. It’s perverted.
There needs to be some changes to the program.

Why is it "s bad. So, so bad." that a kid gets a free 6 month lease on a truck when each school is getting 32 million dollars per year in TV money?
It ain't free, that's income homey. Just wait until these kids start getting reamed by the IRS.

What? Seems they don’t have a legit QB? It’s because they don’t. Alabama is showing that even the best talent evaluators miss sometimes. Thats all that is. It doesn’t have anything to do with NIL.
Wait until the portal opens again. Guarantee Bama will be buying the best free agent in college football.
