Lincoln wasn’t going to work out, so Woody had his hooks in as many options as possible.

I don’t believe this.
1) aTm is starting to question if Jimbo is their football savior. Seat warming.
2) Jimbo is realizing that aTm has a limited recruiting base.
3) Jimbo is smart enough to know that Texas and OU in SEC will reduce said base.
4) $13 million/year offer!?
A) if true he would have leveraged this for a new and improved aTm contract.
B) if aTm wouldn’t have opened their ATM he’d be cashing his first LSU check.
MONEY TALKS AND BULLSHITE WALKS.

Glad we didn't get him. Woodward is blinded by loyalty/friendship, like a lot of people.

I don’t buy this story. LSU ran off jimbo when he was out OC and he hasn’t done anything to deserve a big pay day. LSU fans didn’t want him and woody knows that

Don't believe. They all just quote each other and then say "multiple sources".

I have no inside information, but I do not believe this story.
It doesn't make sense on several levels, not the least of which the the price$. If Woody had made that offer he would have been hammered by a number of BOS folks and others. Selling the price tag for Brian Kelly was tough enough for some...

So is Woodward actually as good as most LSU fans make him out to be? Or does he just have the largest checkbook to play with?

Delly still trying to hold onto his narrative that the coaching search was a mess. Some of the stuff he reported at the end has already been shown to be false. I watched that clown on Finebaum the day after the Kelly hire and was so off on describing the situation and the pulse of the fans. He probably called the TexAgs moderator to ask him what happened with Jimbo.

regardless of all the unsubstantiated reports, he just landed a better coach for less money than many who paid to retain their existing "up and coming" coaches.......

Yes he is good by any definable metric.

I don’t believe it. The numbers don’t lie. If lsu were to offer JF 13 mil per year JF would have signed. I sure that at 13 mil per year Saban would have signed or Meyer would have left the NFL to sign @ 13m.

#LSU pursued Jimbo Fisher to the very end. As we reported last week, there were phone calls with Fisher as late as the Thursday before the last game of the regular season.

I mentioned previously on a few occasions that I'm convinced Woodward was negotiating with several people simultaneously - at least Kelly, Jimbo, and Riley. I'm sure he probably approached a few others like Petersen, Fickel, and maybe even Saban. Until he had Kelly secure, he kept up contact with his primary targets. I don't know who his true favorite was, but this is how Woodward makes great hires. He identifies several targets, negotiates in parallel (rather than in sequence), maintains confidentiality, and he is relentless until he achieves his goal.

That's the context for this claim that Woodward "pursued Jimbo Fisher to the very end." He also pursued Kelly, Riley, and maybe a few others "to the very end."

His hiring would have been the first time in CFB where two fanbases melted at the same time over the same move.
