Fired up could also backfire.
In a game this intense, if you “expel all of your energy” too soon, it can lead to energy drain….
Seen it often. Team plays 100% intense the 1st half, and has nothing for the 2nd half.

Actually, this has been discussed. Lane even mentioned it. He doesn't want his guys to get too hyped up. A team that plays on emotion rides that wave BOTH ways, up and down. He wants his guys to play with focus, first. Rely on your training and coaching. Focus on fundamentals and assignments.

It is physically impossible for a human to bare-handedly rip a man's heart out. Human anatomy provides a massive, highly durable defense system that cannot be breached by human muscle alone. You've got the rib cage, sternum, muscles, connective tissue, etc.
Tearing out a heart requires surgical saws to split the sternum, rib spreaders to hold the chest open, and scalpels to cut through the connective tissues and blood vessels.
It can't be done on a football field by a football player.

If LSU stands on business they will win tomorrow night. LSU is more talented and better coached. If LSU tries to match up with Ole Miss emotionally, they will lose.
This is one of the lessons Kiffin will have taken from Saban. Underdogs win using emotion.

Actually you couldn't be more wrong. The fans and the administration have taken it personal and want to beat Lane more than anything. Ole Miss players, many of which weren't even playing for Ole Miss last year, don't really give a shite about that vendetta. Chambliss and Lacey care more about winning the game than they do about beating kiffin.
On the other hand, LSU's players play for kiffin. They want to win the game just as Ole Miss players do. Their added motivation is their coach has been villainized and they are all walking in being hated and disrespected. The extra motivational edge goes to LSU, both consciously and subconsciously.
