I watched a game at Autzen. The place is nice because it is new, but nothing close to Death Valley.

Autzen is a great stadium I'd love to go see a game at some day, but it's not Tiger Stadium. There's a reason Tiger Stadium is synomous with the Roman Colosseum.

Plus, their fans don't suck as bad as ours.

Not all of us suck, people forget the fact that we won 2 NC's in the 2000's and a couple sugar bowls and 3 SEC titles, It all speaks for itself!! people have gotten spoiled and forgot the Curley Holman years and the dark days... This is the Golden years of LSU football and people should Cherish years like we have year in and year out!!
It's not a bad thing to be upset over big time losses, who doesnt get upset in the end LSU still packs TS every single week and people go Crazy for LSU Football!!!

ETA. We are still the Loudest in the nation... Hell we are Drunk Coonasses, aint that what we supposed to do, get loud and raise hell!!!??

132 v 128 is a pretty significant difference in decibels.

While this is true, it's not what the OP was talking about. TS used to be consistently loud as hell... Now with more and more corporate seating/whoever the hell sits down both sidelines, it's slowly become quieter. The student section and south endzone are still both freaking loud, but they get very little help from most of the sidelines.

It's why the "older" crowd says TS is nothing compared to what it used to sound like. It's because there are fewer people actually doing any cheering now

Look - I don't actually believe Autzen is any louder than the other "really f'n loud" places in cfb. I think anyone that claims to have "the loudest" stadium is completely stupid. But to discount the noise levels our fans and that stadium produce is equally stupid.

All you need to do to appreciate it is see what the visiting players, coaches, and fans have to say. (Because this is the SEC I'll go ahead and exclude the strictly in-conference mentions since Pac-10 people don't know anything...)

quote:

"That's the loudest stadium I've ever been in." - Lloyd Carr, former Michigan Head Coach

quote:

"They're going to be loud from the first snap until the last snap. They are right on top of you and they're just relentless." - Barry Alvarez, former Wisconsin Head Coach

quote:

"When I coached in the Big 12, Oklahoma and Nebraska were the loudest places we played, but this was louder. Autzen Stadium is the real deal." - Bobby Hauck, Former Montana Head Coach

quote:

Adrian Peterson shook his helmeted head and slapped his earholes. But the ringing wouldn't stop.
"OOOOOOOOOOOOO..."
As the Oklahoma Sooners stood in the tunnel of Autzen Stadium ready to hit the field, the walls around them vibrated like a tuning fork. The air felt thick with what sounded like a World War I biplane parked under the goalpost 15 yards in front of them.
"OOOOOOOOOOOOO..."
"It was like some sort of crazy torture in the movies. How do people do that so long without taking a breath? I think my ears are still ringing." – Former Oklahoma Running Back, Adrian Peterson in an ESPN article

quote:

Autzen's 59,000 strong make the Big House collectively sound like a pathetic whimper. It's louder than any place I've ever been, and that includes "The Swamp" at Florida, "The Shoe" in Columbus and "Death Valley" at Louisiana State. Autzen Stadium is where great teams go to die." – J. Brady McCullough, The Michigan Daily

quote:

Get inside your own 20 in a tight game, and you can forget about A.) hearing B.) avoiding false starts and C.) success." – Matt Hayes, SportingNews

quote:

"I still think Autzen Stadium is louder than all those (Alabama, Florida) places" - Lane Kiffin, USC Head Coach

And honestly if anything the home crowd has been quieter recently. (Also to whoever suggested we're loud because of big plays - that's pretty funny.) The noise at Autzen is for the defense - trust me.

Also I don't know where this "Oregon BC 2007" stuff is coming from...

This topic is too broad. Are we talking tailgating? Are we talking history of loudest at any peak point in time? Are we talking consistent loudest such as most intimidating place to play (for a opposing QB)?

My take. UO and the PAC 10 even worse, cannot hold a candle to the SEC when it comes to tailgating or overall pageantry of game day! Ranking Conferences for tailgating and or pageantry or overall gameday experience alone I would rank it this way.

#1 SEC
#2 SEC
#3 SEC
#4 Big Ten
#5 Big 12
#6 ACC
#7 Pac-10

Death Valley might easily be the funnest atmosphere such as your night games. As far as loudest, as in single highest one time play recorded, UW might have that honor. However, that was only one game, one play, many, many years ago. Go there now and it is nothing. LSU might of been the top a few years back as well. But if we are talking today, currently, #1 loudest and #1 most intimidating it has to be Autzen.

Nebraska is NOT loud but all that red is impressive.
If you look at all the polls year after year on loudest stadium it is virtually always LSU, Florida, Va Tech, and Texas A&M in the top 5 and sometimes Tenn. Clemson and Oregon are almost always in the next 5 or 10. Penn St and Ohio St are gaining ground. Auburn is underrated.

You're new here, so I'll cut you some slack, and tell you that linking Bleacher Report is a no-no here.

Why? Because literally anyone can write an article over there and print it as if it were fact.

As far as the TS vs AS feud, Tiger Stadium can get louder than Autzen ever can. On a consistent basis, no. Our stadium isn't built down into a landfill the way yours is, and sound scatters more easily.

However, if plans are finalized to bowl in/add to the South End zone of Tiger Stadium, this debate will be over once and for all.

Wrong. You're speaking for yourself only because you don't give a shite about spelling. There are lots of people who don't bother to say anything, primarily because of dumbasses like you.

EDSDB description of Tiger Stadium on Saturday night:
quote:

"That voodoo’s real. When the “Four Corners Salute” gets cranking, it’s like listening to a 747 made entirely of fired clay crashing into a field of shattered glass. Getting a snap off effectively is in itself a game ball-worthy achievement. Combined with the orgy going on outside the stadium for five miles in any direction, it’s the gold standard for any other college gameday experience. Any of them. It is peerless in terms of demonstrated intensity, lunacy, commitment, flair, and menace. At several points in the day, we were convinced we were going to be killed, injected with creole butter, and thrown in a deep fryer…but only in the most festive and accommodating of ways, of course."
