Oh I know but the biggest area IS the stadium parking. When my girl takes me I show em how it's done
Eta....how else would I know all that I do?
Eta...goducks349, got a nice shot of hood last weekend on the OB. Hiked up to 9100 ft.

Fan Knowledge - LSU
hmmm
LSU Fan base is more knowledgeable than Oregon fan base. Not saying there are not exceptions. It is just that we are more into our football than the north.

I've tried to go through the entire thread and catch up. Here's my take on the comparison. I've never been to Tiger Stadium so I only know what I've seen on TV. It's very impressive, very loud.
Here's my personal experience at Autzen:
1. Very smart crowd. When the Oregon offense is on the field you can hear a pin drop 20 yard away.
2. When the opponent is on the field your ears hurt. I've seen teams have three consecutive dead ball or illegal motion penalities in a row simply because they couldn't hear.
3. I've seen opposing QBs flip the crowd the "single digit" salute because he was so frustrated with the noise.
4. Every time I go there my ears don't stop ringing for a couple hours after the game.
5. People often talk about other stadiums and how they are loud in front of the student sections. At Auzten it doesn't make any difference, no one sits down and everyone yells.
6. The fans are extremely close to the opposing teams bench and the field. Plus the front row is about 8 feet above the field, so it feels like the fans are right on top of the players. Some opposing teams use the benchwarmers as a shield between the fans and the guys getting on the field. Many times you see fans and opposing players talking trash with each other. Coaches hate this but its a common event.
7. Autzen never has just a capacity sellout. I think they averaged 108% of capacity last year as an example. Still it's not 90,000.
I wouldn't compare the two, as I suspect they are very different stadiums from what I've seen of Tiger Stadium on TV.
I will say this, from the pics, it looks like LSU fans are much further away from the field and lower than at Autzen.

Finally, it is rumored that they are going to add another 12,000 seats in the near future.

I got a bit of a sunburn down at the new house last week. I'm still wrapping up closing on my PDX place. I'm ready for a break. I'm envious, this is a beautiful time of year in Oregon

That was awesome...Geno Smith was a bit more rattled than at those Big Least stadiums.

I have been to both. I went to the Oregon-Purdue home opener at Autzen in 2009 in a late afternoon/evening start that went into the night. The game was nationally televised by Fox.
The game was a nail biter with Oregon winning it at the end in a fairly high-scoring game. The stadium certainly had its bit of electricity. The pre-game enthusiasm and surrounding tailgating was pretty solid, but certainly not LSU caliber by any means. The issue I had, although I am sure a late season game in the civil war against Oregon State at home or hosting USC would make the encironment even better, was the shape of the stadium, particularly the end zones, which allow a lot of sound to escape. The fans are rabid and wonderful, but there just is not nearly as many of them, as the staadium is substantially smaller than Tiger Stadium.
All in all, i would put Tiger Stadium at its best at an 11 out of 10 and would venture to put Autzen at a 9.5 out of 10 for a big game within the actual stadium during a game.
It was impressive, but cannot compete at all with Tiger Stadium.

So you don't know how to answer this question. Put it to you this way. Two different VERY proud Texas fans accompanied me to Tiger Stadium for a Big game. Both of them comfessed to me, although said they would never admit it publicly almost the exact same words
"I'll never admit it to anyone at UT or in public, but there is just no comparison to UT. This is so much more loud and impressive".

Let's face it what we need to do is get our ADs together and get a home and home scheduled. That would be way cool!!
As for TX fans, who cares. It's TX...... At home against the PAC-10 they are 1-2 in the last 20 years. Add in Colorado (3-2)and they are 4-4 at home. Doesn't sound like much of a home field advantage. So perhaps the fans just don't get into the games much or the stadium isn't all that much help, or they didn't have very good football teams. What ever, it's TX

That was an ugly game, poorly played, just horrible.

It is what I wanted. Between the two groups of fans Eugene would be overwhelmed I went to the Oklahoma game and they travel well but this would be different.

Nothing Autzen could ever do will come close to the scene in and out of Death Valley for 07 FL. There must have been 10K outside the stadium during the game. The environment was unreal.

One thing that I think people don't realize, and not to bash Oregon, but they don't play in a near as competitive conference year in and year out. Whereas LSU, does, and in the toughest division in the conference. So Oregon might have 1-2 big home games every year and LSU has 3-4 almost every year. Take this year for example, LSU has three huge home games, Fla, Auburn, and Ark. Oregon has USC and Oregon St. So, people get up at there peak loudness on fewer occasions than LSU does. And they probably take advantage of those times where LSU fans now are kinda going off the tradition of TS instead of trying to break decible records, and not to mention the ticket prices go up about $5 every two or three years.

i know what youre saying, but this is completely irrelevant to the rest of the topic

Just did a quick check and LSU tickets ($320/6 games 2011 prices) are cheaper than Autzen ($387/6 games 2010 prices). And I think Autzen is $430/6 gamves this year.
Then consider that Autzen averaged 108% of capacity last year. Point is, Oregon fans are up for EVERY game. The comment about Oregon getting up for just two games was simply foolish.

You'll run across those here, from time to time.
and fwiw,UO is my second favorite team if i had to pick one. But you cant honestly think Autzen is even close to TS as far as sound and atmosphere
