All these upsets mean something today.

LSU, Bama, Texas all with 2 losses and every game is now potentially the end of their season.

Hell even though UGA has only 1 loss, they could get another loss this year with OM or another on their schedule and be a fringe team.

This is why this sport is awesome.

It had its flaws, but I’d personally prefer the BCS over a 24 team playoff. The big games are still fun, but the stakes are much lower now. 4 team playoff was honestly the best IMO.

Thank you.

It sucks so much these teams wouldn't even be sweating these losses.

A&M 8-4 should love the playoff.

It all goes back to that rat bastard Mel Kuyper. He was beating the playoff drum before anybody else

Not really. Every 9-3 SEC team will be in moving forward.

I love the idea that these games mean more and there is urgency.

I don't even care to follow the NFL regular season like I do college football.

It just sucks so much, because of all the injuries too. I like seeing Bama knocked out. I like seeing ND knocked out.

The OG system 1 loss could be the end.

BCS era it was two losses.

Four-team playoff it was three and you were toast.

With 24 teams an 8-4 team has a chance.

Ideally we would have a smaller field and a mechanism to ensure no undefeated team is left out. Then settle it on the field.

Barring that there should be a rule that you don't get in with 3 losses unless there aren't enough teams.

The same people that wanted the 24 team playoff will be complaining when 16 of the 24 are SEC and BIG 10 teams.

If you have 24, eliminate the byes and make it 32 and eliminate all useless bowl games. Nobody wants to play in them anyway . That’s what is going to happen eventually

12 is fine, humans determining who gets is is where the flaws are. Bias plays too much a part in it..let the computers take over

The BCS's flaw was not enough teams. Replace the playoff committee with the BCS formula. Don't need 24 teams.

I feel exactly the opposite. With a 9 game SEC regular season, a 12 team playoff hurts SEC teams. You can win all 3 non conference games and go 6-3 in the conference (which is pretty good given the current parity of the league) and still not make the playoffs.

Don’t go 6-3 in conference then. Why should teams that don’t win games they’re supposed to be rewarded ?

Why do you want want them to be eliminated after 3 losses and make their rest of regular season meaningless? With 24 teams teams are in it until the end.

Cocktail party in two weeks.

ETA: I think the issue that's going to raise it's head this season is that the committee is going to have to pick at least one 3 loss SEC team from a large pool of them. I would trust the BCS computers to do that, but not a human committee.

Just curious. Do you think there are 6+ SEC teams who could win it all? Because if so, this move helps.

I like 24 team playoffs. What if a team has injuries and loses 3 close ones and finishes strong at the end of the year with full health?
It’ll take care of itself. If a crap team doesn’t belong they’ll get clobbered early. The close games matter for positioning. I’ll never not care about an LSU SEC game

Quite the opposite, it’s why 24 playoff actually is legit. It allows for teams to have a couple of Mulligan games and still get a shot to be the best at the end of the year.
