Dave's on the hot seat and his days in Waco are numbered

This keeps getting repeated, but he just won the Big XII two years ago, and they were within 2 minutes of beating Utah this year.

That program didn't have a winning record in like 15 years until RGIII and Briles dragged them to a 7-6 record in their 3rd year. I'd be surprised if Baylor gives up on Aranda in his 3rd full season.

2023 has played a little tougher schedule though.

2019 had more talent in the secondary AND had continuity from the years before.
I think we need to let the year play out and see how this squad does or doesn’t improve before we start calling for House’s head.
Also need to see how this recruiting cycle ends. Especially for the secondary.

Agree. Defense is not as far away as it seems. A little improvement in one or two areas would improve the entire Defense.

More pressure on the QB. More run and ball control from the offense. More advanced coverage schemes. Any one of these could really help a lot.

Exactly my point. We have had a huge turnover in our roster and a new DC. DA had been here and we had an established system. The second half against Texas was one of the worst defenses I’ve ever seen at LSU. But many think our defense was good that year…only after the Bama game

Being a shite recruiter as a HC along with not having good recruiters on your staff typically does not bode well.

And the majority of Baylor fan base's response is that he did it with Rhule's players.

Dave isn’t really HC material. He inherited a good Baylor team and they’ve regressed since. Love to have him back as DC.

I told y'all this when he left. Great guy and DC, but def not a head coach.

He'll probably end up in the NFL...

Not sure how good of a recruiter Leonhard is, but he is a solid DC and will get picked up by someone.

Difference is 2019 had 8 guys drafted in the top 3 rounds of the draft.
But they out scored everyone so bad that we played backups and prevent for most of the second half of games.

If House is talking about going to the pros, I say let him walk and take Dave back.

I don’t approve of either coach. We have a mixture of young and experienced players.

The problems on Defense:

1). A very experienced Safety GB3 out indefinitely.
2). Corners are inexperienced in the Sec.
3). Some corners and Safeties have not lived up to rankings. Sage, Harris, Welsh and Langlois.
4). HP40 should be a safety. He can still rush from that position the same number of times he currently is now playing a hybrid linebacker.
5). Injury of Speights whether starting or not is still depth.
6). Injury of Oghoufu same as above
7). The big 0 is strait up second string at this point whether it is injury or a game conditioning issue.
8). Nobody up front is making clean up front individual tackles. Our D line gets shoved around and we seem to give up an extra 3-6 extra rushing yards from the opponents o-line.
9). The secondary fellas have Frankenstein neck and can’t make a play on the ball.
10). Harris and Perkins are gonna get flagged for taunting.

Offense needs to get a third person open because AA isn’t doing it and Mason Taylor plays stiff it might be the injury. We are weak in the middle of the Oline on blitz and stunts packages. JD is hot and cold and can’t read the Defense. The Running backs need to get more looks.

The LSU defense played lights out the last 5 games of the 2019 season, under Aranda. That stellar defense was every bit as crucial to winning the title as Joe's heroics on offense-- that particularly was the case in the championship game.

Aranda could bring us back into contention again
