Yeah somebody must be showing him some potential to get paid.

Unless they told him they plan on bringing in another safety this year to replace Haulcy. Just because he was a backup this year doesn’t necessarily mean that they plan for him to be a starter next year.
So he doesn't think he can compete?

And ill bet you'll be celebrating the portal class LSU brings in.
Well yeah. I would also be celebrating if I survived getting a new car after the previous one was stolen. I would be a lot happier not having to go thru the situation entirely.
Move the commitment signing date to February 1st and the portal signing date to March 1st. Make signing out of high school a two year commitment if you sign a two year NIL deal. No NIL deal and you can transfer after one year and play immediately under no penalty. This allows smaller schools to stay competitive, and lesser players not offered NIL money to prove themselves for a pay day.
After two years, all players are allowed to enter the portal and sit out a year or you can play immediately and lose your redshirt year. You want to transfer after that, you must sit out a year period unless you were granted an exception by your current school (i,e, you got processed).
This would allows teams to better budget NIL money for recruits and transfers. More talented players will make increase their value as it weeds out less talented players from simply hopping school to school each year. It will also make high school recruiting and player development more relevant again,

I don’t think it necessarily the players, I blame the greedy agents.
System is broken. Hopefully someone will step up and fix it.

Disappointing to hear. Good chance he would be a major contributor next year. The disappointment is that he has no emotional tie to being a Tiger. I don't think I will ever get use to that, but it does seem like the future of college football.

He was going to be one of the starting safeties. I hate this NIL shite.

They were always going to need a safety. I guess he's afraid of competition.

Have a stipulation in the NIL contract indicating that the salary is based on performance.
It would be extremely dumb for any school to do this.

If a player is just flat out garbage, then they get cut or released. No buy out, no nothing.
Ok, now define “flat out garbage”

Make them at least put forth the effort to earn the money they agreed upon plus any potential bonuses.
Do you think that players aren’t trying?

I have no idea what he’s thinking. But he’s going into his junior year and at some point he’s going to need to play more than 10 snaps a game if he wants to get to the NFL.
