Does Daronte Jones exist? I haven’t seen him one time this season. At least they’ve shown Peetz a couple of times.

Is this a dead horse? Up until Saturday morning before the game there were a shite ton of pro-Daronte posts. He has managed to avoid criticism in relation to his results for the majority of the season.

Do you see a scenario where Daronte is the DC next year?

There's not one. So whether he is good or bad is irrelevant.

To be fair, I remember a lot more uncertainty surrounding Jones. This board fell hard for Peetz though.

Yes sure. That's kind of irrelevant to my OP tho. He is here til the end of the season so it is okay to evaluate his performance.

You don’t think O is forcing him to play his scheme?

The college game has swung to the offense the last 3-5 years. Just this last weekend we had Tex - OU and Ark - OM look like Arena Football. Even Bama at times has given up crazy yards and points in the last 2-3 years. That being said, we can’t cover crossing patterns or wheel routes and our LB and safety play is atrocious. Not looking like Jones can put our athletes in a position to win.

However, Peetz has been just as disappointing. The best defense is the offense being able to convert on 3rd and 2. Max has never had a Mettenberger arm but at least last year he seemed to just play football, improvise, scramble for first down. Now he looks like he is thinking more than playing. Very telling to me to have a true sophomore QB repeatedly motion to coaches on sideline to get their act together and get the damn play called. I hope our offense watches tape of Kentucky’s O-line and learn how to open holes and seal an edge.

It's a "moot" point.

109th 3rd Down Defensive Conversations

I posted about the abysmal third down conversion rate after Mississippi State and was assured by Ed supporters that it was only skewed that low because of the gameplan employed against State - which was ostensibly to NOT get them off the field on third down

But the players love him, and he’s exciting in practice

Just want to point out that sack total was padded against UCK and McNeese.

We can all agree we are awful. But I don't recall many people singing the praises of either coordinator hire. The most positive comments were usually something like "I'm willing to give them a chance."

O's obsession with hiring NFL guys is such a backwards concept. NFL coaches deal with players that have for the most part already been developed and were elite at the college level.

College coaches have to develop kids that may have natural talent, but need to learn everything from basic concepts like tackling, footwork, processing and diagnosing plays and scheme concepts. They also have to know how to relate these concepts to 18 year olds who are part time athletes, full time students (I know that's not always the case).

Unless an NFL coach has recent college experience, the fascination with NFL hires needs to stop. The only way it works is if you have exceptional position coaches that can bridge the gap which we don't.

Top 10 to 15 talent - at worst - with top 75 results. Not getting it done.

He has never been a DC other than highschool! It doesn’t matter if you worked with nfl teams. This guy has no experience as a DC! For the love of god how do you hire this guy ?

The defense is a bigger shock IMO because LSU almost always sits around the top 10 in total defense in great years and around the top 20 to 25 in good years and hardly ever below the 40s even in bad years

Been a Tiger fan since the '40s. Have always identified with the defense. 2019 was the first year I began to think "offense first" <== that was a thrilling ride.

There's really only 1-2 reasons why Jones was hired for the position. Should have gone to Corey Raymond!!!

Nothing short of coaching frauds that had NO business even being allowed on campus let alone interviewed then hired for millions and millions.
