Danny Etling is a good Quarterback

I’ll always remember Danny as the critical transition QB from the stone ages to the modern era. He walked so Joe could run!
Hypothetical: how would Etling do in the 2025 offense with all these weapons and the scheme? Maybe not better than Nuss but he’d put some good numbers up right?

Never forget...
I think that guy post here under the same name "DannyEtlingIsAGoodQB" or something along those lines, IIRC.

Man I among many others was fired up for 2017 with Matt Canada and Etling. Boy was that a dud

Is it me that you’re looking for? For here I am. He was a great quarterback. Danny Phantom!

Etling to Chark at Auburn should have counted.

Yup

He truly was a tough SOB. I remember several times him getting popped and getting right back up bloodied and staying in the game. I’ll always have a ton of respect for him.

Agree but then Les would have retained the job at least for the time being. Who knows what would have happened from then on. It changed the course of history

I think he was most remembered for his toughness. He was a decent passer but it he was a great leader. At a time when LSU desperately needed one at QB.

He wasn't among the most talented LSU quarterbacks, but he was competitive and had a solid work ethic.

Hard to say. I liked Etling and he looked good at times. People forget though in that 2016 10-0 loss to Alabama if he is accurate LSU wins comfortably. He missed 4-5 deep throws that would have went for likely TD’s

Come on y’all, Etling wasn’t good. He just wasn’t Harris and Jennings bad

Couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn against Alabama in 2017. Receivers were open downfield all night. That game was very winnable with a QB that didn’t go 12-26.

or how about with Brady, Jefferson, Chase et al

Etling's Achilles Heel was his weak arm strength. He had DJ Chark who could get behind the defense and Etling could not get him the ball. I went to BDS in 17 and watched Chark beat Bama's Safeties repeatedly. Danny underthrew him at leat 5 times.

Etling was ineffective that night. Orgeron benched him in the fourth quarter in favor of Myles Brennan, who only made a bad situation worse.
Speaking of Brennan, I seem to remember him coming in to relieve an ineffective Etling in earlier games that season, vs Syracuse and Troy.

he wasnt good,we were just used to complete trash at the position. I always thought eventually things would even out when it came to that position and I think we're now even. Harris ,jennings,Jefferson = complete trash. burrow, daniels, nuss= as great a 3 qb run as a person could imagine.
