A lot of that is on Daniels natural ability and intellect, I'm sure, but the work LSU is doing with the quarterbacks, including the VR room, it's getting them NFL ready.

Great recruiting tool.

Winning the Heisman twice in the span of a few years sure helps. Would love to see Nuss run it back to back.

Would love to see this. The constant dismissing of Jayden's stats was pretty annoying for most of us to listen to last season. If Nuss has a stellar season heads on the west coast would explode.

Remember when he couldn’t, then he developed into an elite player?

He was horrible at reading defenses his first year here. It’s ok to admit he made massive progress between years.

The massive progress is what I’m excited about. It shows that we are developing QBs well. We need to keep Sloan here as long as possible

he had issues in the beginning but I dont think it was because he couldnt read a defense. I think he was just apprehensive to throw in to coverage. Maybe a bit afraid of a mistake. He was so unlike Burrow in that way. Last season, he really et it rip. It all came together for him, and it didnt hurt that he had absolute dogs catching passes for him.

Impossible logic for the rant. Never mind the fact that he went from a 4th year player that would’ve been lucky to get drafted to a Heisman and #2 overall pick. You can also ignore the dozens of articles of him and his coaches talking about how much of a jump he made on the mental side of the game going into year 5. He was always the same player, some people were just rantards and couldn’t see it.

This narrative always chuckled me because if you think he was awful at reading defenses then he would’ve had the turnovers to match
Jayden’s first year was objectively good, he just turned it into a legendary 2nd year by trusting the ability of his receivers/improving his accuracy.

...

I mean he struggled with that at times early in his career at LSU.

I think those light sensor simulations, and the ai film study helps a lot with the qbs. Their processing things much quicker in real time. Add in the confidence realizing nabors and thomas were best wr duo in the nation, and he starting letting that sucker go. Hope he tears it up and changes that organizations stripes

This

After not turning it over much his first year+ (his soph year was 2020 and ASU played like 4 games), he had 10 TDs to 10 Ints his last year. So I think that made him a bit gunshy early on at LSU. Remember in '22 BK said the coaches had to tell him it was ok to take chances, and throw a pick if need be.

It's still crazy how much of a jump he had year to year. Glad that's happened for a number of LSU QB's in our "golden era", eg Mauck, Jamarcus, of course Burrow and now Jayden.

Including the best WR in CFB this past season.

Would rather see Nuss lead us to a National Title rather than him winning the Heisman. But I do expect him to have a very productive season.

Are you saying he read defenses well his first year?

Not entirely true. Go watch his film sessions from his first year. He was a one read then tuck and run QB. He limited turnovers because he didn’t throw it.

As a poster above me said, the development between his first and second year here is impressive and I hope it continues. I think Nuss will be great this year and top 3 in the SEC.

It's pretty impressive what has transpired at LSU with regard to QB success.
I mean, even 10 years ago, if you'd have told me LSU would have 2 Heisman QB's in a span of 5 years, I'd have the Funny Farm pick you up.

Nussmeier is going to surprise a lot of people. Underwood coming in right around the corner is huge, obviously.

He was fine as far as the "reading" of the defenses. QB's who can't read defenses tend to turn the ball over a lot which he rarely did. Indecisiveness caused by his unfamiliar new teammates and surroundings were the primary culprit for his struggles in 2022.

People just say he had trouble reading defenses because they heard one of their friends say that and just ran with it.

Go watch Caskey’s Clicker of the Tennessee game breakdown. Jayden would not throw the ball downfield unless a receiver was wide open. He had no throw anticipation and was not a good QB his first year. I’m unsure why this is so hard for many to admit.

He was night and day between his first two years here.
