As of right now, if our d-line doesn't make the tackle on an interior run, it's 6 yards every time. We better hurry and get a run-stopper in there at mike. Didn't we go through this Clark experiment last season?

But Clark over pursued so much last week. Sprinted to the edge only to have the rb cut back into the gap he was supposed to be in so many times - had he just taken 2 less steps he meets the rb in the hole. Seems like trusting the edge to be set and staying home would help him a lot.

Next man up to wake him up if that is possible. White or Sampah... try them.... nothing to lose

Put Devonta in there, him and Jabril would be a freakishly athletic linebacker core

He looked a little lost at times against Vandy and wasn’t gap sound ( all of the LBers weren’t too good at it the other day ). They gave up a bunch of big cut back runs. Had they not overplayed the gaps, they wouldn’t have given up near the yards they did.

Donte starks is probably fully regretting his offseason issues. He would have made a big difference in the LB room

Yep that was the size and speed we need right now. Guess that doesn’t matter if you can get your head out of your arse. Anyway we need better linebacker from everyone else not named Cox

Clark doesn’t have the Devin White/Patrick Queen quality where he’s firing downhill like a rocket yet. To be fair, neither of those guys really had that their first year either. I think mentally it takes time to adjust and take the right angles.

The concern about Clark is that he was touted as the leader of the defense. It’s like saying Donnie Alexander was the leader of the defense. You need your alpha leader to be good and ball out. Kelvin Sheppard, Kevin Minter, Devin White, Kwon Alexander. We need elite LB play from him.

Clark is an ideal 3-4 OLB/Edge not a 4-3 mike imo

He’s been very hesitant in space, like he’s afraid to go for tackle because he might miss. Not what you want from a MLB at all.

I've been thinking the same thing. He disappears for long periods of time and that's not what you want from someone you thought was going to be enforcer. I remember one play in the MSU game where he had a chance to lay a big hit but instead he jumped on the player's back like a piggy back ride. I thought what the hell was that! It's still early so I'm hoping the light will come on soon and we will see the player we have all been expecting.

I’ve seen enough of Clark playing the middle. He isn’t a middle guy, he’s outside! We better figure this out quickly!

No he’s def a middle linebacker, his problem is when the play moves outside of the tackle box he’s useless. He’s a between the guard thumper who doesn’t run that well. He was fine as the second MLB in a 3-4 who takes on guards and cleans up inside trash but as a sideline to sideline modern 4-3 MLB he just doesn’t have the range. Sammy also made a good point that the scheme were running is part of it too. Pelini is gonna use him to take doubles off of our interior Dline but so far none of those guys have been able to take advantage of that.

Pelini’s defenses historically eye not designed for the LBs to wrack you a ton of tackles.

Landry lead the team in tackles 2/3 years he was here as DC and there was a 2 way tie between Steltz and Highsmith In 2007

If only football was still played the way it was in 2005 to 2007. The game has changed. Pelini’s experience at Nebraska and YSU haven’t prepared him for modern day football against elite teams.
