No.

Brown picked up that momentum and used it to build a powerhouse.

No nor should he. This is a ridiculous comparison.

Dale was just as successful building up
The program from scratch as Skip. He didn’t win the nattys obviously. But he was one the few who put Kentucky on full alert and had a run of
Dominance that lsu basketball hasn’t come close to sense. He will be immortalized by those he touched. Which were many.

Powerhouse?
Yes, we had a big run of seversl seasons. This included several SEC titles and appearances in the sweet 16, Elite 8 and Final Four.
Back then every game wasn’t televised, but our schedule and Dale got us on national TV quite a lot.
At one time we rivaled and surpassed the great Kentucky Wildcats. Our games eith Ky were legendary.

Don’t make everything an internet contest. Let’s remember Skip and all he did for LSU.
When Dale passes, do the same thing.

I certainly do.
LSU's program was a complete piece of shite when Brown took it over. If it had any momentum, it wouldn't have been hiring an unknown assistant from a losing Washington St. program in Brown. LSU finished 10-16 in Maravich's last year before Dale was hired and LSU hadn't made a tourney in 18 years (though the tourney did allow less teams in back then).
Brown was nowhere near the coach Bertman was and has at times opened his mouth too much (being kind), but he also had some phenomenal accomplishments considering what he took over. The SEC Championships and Final Fours were great accomplishments, but he sold LSU basketball like nobody could have imagined. LSU had one of the best atmospheres in any sport at the PMAC in the 80s and Brown's Super Dome games against Georgetown, etc. were legendary and held the record for the largest basketball attendances (pro or college) for many years for any game (regular season or post-season). They are still like 3 of the top 5 largest regular season basketball attendances of all time.
Also, his players always had the highest of praise for what he did for them on the court and off the court in life. CJ, Shaq, the Loyola Marymount game, the UNLV game, etc. will go down in history all because of Brown's recruiting and willingness to play the best of the best which created memories that no LSU fan will ever forget.

Skip has six natties; Dale has none. Does Dale deserve some sort of honor? Yes
Posted on 8/18/26 at 8:45 pm to alterego55
Dale deserves his flowers, but he wasn’t really on the same level as skip as far as success, and probably impactfulness to the game and to lsu. Dale was a great coach, but wouldn’t even be in the conversation of greatest ever.

There’s a big difference between competing in a National Tournament and actually winning a Championship, make that 4+1 Championships!

S as big, brand new arena and the energy Pete created amongst thousands of fans.
Dale wasn’t left with a good roster, he built that up.

Agreed

No, because Dale Brown’s accomplishments are not in the same stratosphere as Skip Bertman.
