Yeah I don’t think a lot of folks know how to respond on a Rant board towards a positive post anymore.
People rather come down on posters and downvote anything “Pro” that’s why other positive people that have been posters don’t start threads on the Rant anymore because too many people tearing others down. I started the thread to build more excitement on the board and which in turn feeds positive vibes around the program because most people here are out in the community with other people. It’s good to have good stories because it helps programs.
*Meant to say I don’t mind others opinions on why they don’t think he will and that’s fine to add to the discussion too. To think others have suggested we have no evidence to date of how well he “could be” hasn’t been paying attention to his previous stops or what he has done in a short period in BR.

Now, maybe the better comparison would be Spurrier to South Carolina, and we can hope to get about 5 years good run from him, before he calls it a day. I think those hoping for 10 years, that would be great, but you're asking a lot of a 60 yr old making tons of money in a stressful job.
A. 60 ain't old. Hell, even 70 isn't old for a healthy guy.
B. If Kelly retires after 5 years, he'll leave $50 million on the table. Now yes, he already has more money than he'll ever need, but no way in hell he voluntarily steps away from an additional $50 mil.

I think that BK gives a better chance of being the best in program history than all the other coaches we could have hired.

Yes, he is in the big boy league now, but he will have big boy players. The idea he out talented people for his success as a coach is ridiculous. He won a championship in the past, won at Cincy too. Makes the leap to ND and wins until he runs up against talent mismatches. Don’t forget, they were legitimately giving Clemson fits in the playoff. What coach right now would win a national title at ND? Maybe Saban after years of recruiting, but I still doubt it. Plus, he would never take that job due to limitations. Remember, all of their titles were given by the media.

There is no legitimate reason backed by evidence that tells me BK won’t be highly successful here. The only fault I can see is his record against top ten teams, but I suspect that will change dramatically given he will face them more often and have elite talent to match up with them.

I don’t expect a lot this year other than seeing a team more disciplined and not looking easily outcoached.

He is going to right the ship, no doubt about it.

Given the landscape of cfb, and the sec in particular, I believe his overall record will mean less when deciding if he is best in program history. If he wins multiple national titles then he will be considered better than Saban was at LSU even if W/L percentages aren't as good.

This will be an exciting tenure to watch.

Yes saban is our greatest coach. Miles is the most accomplished.

He would be, if nick saban had never coached here. Sorry, he can be second best

I disagree a bit.

Nick is the best CFB coach ever, not sure that’s even debatable at this point.

But the Nick Saban that built the machine at Alabama is not the same Nick Saban that coached at LSU.

I think it took going to the NFL and not succeeding to turn him into what he is today.

So if you just look at time at LSU, BK certainly has a chance to be the best Tiger coach ever, even better than Mick.

Miles was better than Saban in totality

People will downvote the hell out of this. But if you just look at their time at LSU, Miles has a strong argument for best LSU coach ever.

I think BK will be really good. To truly be great BK must dominate the conference. BK must make Sabin seriously think about retiring because LSU will be spanking that Bama arse.

Could be...but our conferences are being washed down. He's not use to recruiting in a solid hard nosed conference. We will see.

2 nattys, for sure He will be regarded as the Tigers best coach ever, especially with Texas & Oklahoma making it even harder to win 10 games, much less the sec conference. Even if Saban retires in 5 yrs it will still be hard to win a natty every 5, 6, 7 yrs.

I would agree with you if Les had changed his game plan against Bama in the 2011 natty game instead of the same JJ run pass option that was going nowhere. Less was not, is not a game strategist, any other coach would have changed the game plan, but not Les. NOT saying any other coach would have won that game but at least scored some points. Still upset bout that game.

right, and DiNardo "could have been" LSU's best football coach in program history also, before his first season at LSU started. So could have been Archer, Miles, Orgeron, etc.
Just saying.

I really didn't read all that, but just saying.
