It’s your opinion and honestly a lot of hope in that wall of text.
And you said in the title “It’s crazy to think”
You’re right it is crazy, before a single game, and for that you got my downvote and it looks like some other normal thinkers downvotes as well.

I’m optimistic, Yea, but I’m not going to upvote your “crazy thinking”.

Or

He could be the worst coach in program history…we have no idea and have absolutely nothing to base any such speculation on.

What I should have said is it's Exciting to think, but I guess some excitement comes in a crazy form so I'm ok with it.

I’m not sure he was better than Saban or Dietzel but he is very good at running a program. I do think he has assembled the best staff we ever had. I think Dietzel might have gone down as the best if he hadn’t lost it and gone off to Army. He was a very innovative coach and was considered the best recruiter around in his day by other coaches. IMO LSU might have ruled football in the 1960s and 70s
like AL has done..

How about we, you know, let him coach a game first and then we can kind of take it from there.

Saban gets a lot of credit because LSU went from a decade of losing to winning championships almost immediately upon arriving. He made the most of the talent that was here and had an Elite staff under him. He brought a winning mentality to the entire LSU football program. He demanded that we spend money on facilities around the football program which made LSU stand above the rest of the country for a time. He took no body QBs and won championships with those guys. He was for LSU football, what Skip was to LSU baseball.

Les Miles came with the blue print already here and simply needed to maintain that structure. He did ok but imagine what Saban would have done here at LSU had he stayed here? We wouldn’t have had a Bama to compete with. He would have stood alone for a while before any of his coaches would have had a chance to build something similar and LSU would have been so far ahead that they may never have caught up to him?

I say all that and I can’t stand the guy now. But even if he were at LSU and preaching like he is about balance, I’d still be telling him to shut his mouth. Two face is two faced and that’s who he is. Always protecting number 1. Which is fine but don’t go preaching that you’re only looking out for everyone, that’s complete and utter BS. Everyone knows it so he sounds dumb as hell right now.

What I like about Kelly is that he was winning while struggling to get the same type of talent he gets here by the class load. Kelly very likely couldn’t have ever matched the 85 limit talent level at LSU because of those academic hurdles. They might sign one class equal to LSU but signing 3-4 in a row is what you need to do to win championships. Then you also need to sign the right 3-4 loaded classes who fit your teams needs on and off the field and it’s your job to be able to help develop those kids into those type of young men. Kelly has a proven track record of doing this and knowing the type of attitude a young man needs to have to develop into a that man.

That alone could separate you from other teams, by having men and not boys playing for you. When you couple that with elite talent, which Louisiana is full of and good young men on top of that, is why I think he’s going to do really big things here by the time he leaves. Is also why I think he’s going to fit in just fine. He’s going to be like a father some of these boys never had and they will play extremely hard for a guy like that. It’ll be something some of them may not have ever seen or felt from a father figure before. That’ll change them forever.

Good Grief! I agree with guys that say let’s see a few games first but I’ll go a step further. Let’s see how his teams compete against a complete SEC line up. Yes, he was successful at Nota Lame but he had at least 7-8 gimmes a year. He had more talent there than probably every team ND played. He’s in the SEC, the big boy league, now. Weekend and weekout he will have to outcoach more than out talent his opponents. If he wins 9-10 games this coming year, then hell yeah we coming, but I highly doubt that. With a roster that is makeshift in areas inherited by a lazy past staff plus a brutal schedule, I’m gonna be happy with SEVEN wins.

He was crazy for suggesting "he could"? I don't see no guarantee there in 3" headlines.

It's 100% possible that he could. Doesn't mean he will.

Nope, no crazy thinking there.

Hogwash. If Bill Belichik left New England to coach New Orleans would we have no speculation as to what he "could" do there?

Miles was better than Saban in totality

I liked Miles more than most, but you can't compare them apples to apples. Saban built the juggernaut, then left. Knowing what we know now, it's obvious he could have sustained that at least as much as Miles did.

I hate what Saban built at Alabama, mostly because it should have been us of not for Saban's fling with the Dolphins.

Hey man, many on this board don’t want anyone to “what if” or “could be” about the future—they would much rather “what if” or “could’ve been” about the past ????. If only Les had put JL to QB the second half we could’ve been champs!! ??

It could happen but I think people want to see if he can hang with all the big boys in the SEC week to week. It is very different here week to week. But I think Kelly is no fool. He knows very well what’s expected and what the demands are. If he keeps recruiting on this level or dare I say elevates that level, then he’ll be just fine here at LSU.

Even if he stumbles a little at first, the man knows football and he knows how to adjust. We’ve seen him do it. I think the other coaches in the SEC might be a little nervous about Kelly at LSU. If they weren’t, I bet they getting a chill after seeing these last 2 weeks. All indications are that Kelly knows exactly what he’s doing and he already making a difference at LSU.

The kids already believe in what he’s doing so that’s huge. They all have confident smiles when you talk to them. The coaches are quietly confident as well. I think they all want to see the fall practices before they get too far.
