Court of public opinion swaying our way?

All the SEC has is public outrage. Once the facts are presented the players case is pretty open and shut. What options did they have? Did they sign NFL contracts sure but at the time what options were there for them. Sankey and the SEC put themselves in a tough situation and now has to hope that LSU will cave due to fear of repercussions and it doesn’t appear that we are afraid.

There’s definitely going to be pushback once some national voices start pushing the counter narrative, I.e pointing the hypocrisy of the SEC’s position.

-school’s hunting TROs with local judges to keep players eligible that have already been deemed ineligible under existing rules (Chambliss, Pavia). No fight.


- School’s allowing players who went through the draft process to rookie minicamp, players who played in G-league and players who played international professional basketball is all fine.

-Players being payed hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in unlimited portal FA every year in college (and somehow that isn’t being “a professional). Fine.


All of the above going on and then threatening to expel LSU for trying to roster a player cut in his first preseason who has otherwise been deemed eligible by a court is just the height of hypocrisy and absurdity.

ETA: To be clear all of the above horseshite and is ruining the game. But where they are deciding to draw their line in the sand and threaten nuclear options, all because they think they can scapegoat Lane in the court of public opinion, is where it is absurd.

Every team will be adding players after this ruling goes through.

It was only a matter of time that the outrage would die down

People like jumping on bandwagons when it’s against someone that people aren’t fans of or benefits them. Once facts come out the smart people will begin to extinguish that hate flame.

If the shoe was on the other foot, and this had happened during Saban's reign at Alabama and they signed former NFL'ers, Sankey would have been as quiet as a mime in a library.

This is the term that just gets me. Most of these guys had a few days practice at most. Pyburn had a little more but none of them have played a single down in an official NFL game.

I heard one talking head crying that they had practiced against the world's best and now have a competitive advantage over college "kids". Yes, he called them kids. So last year's senior is a grown professional man while this year's senior is a kid.

Don't these kids go to camps run by professionals? I just think calling these guys NFL players is a bit ridiculous.

It should be way more if they could remove their hatred for Lane. He's not doing anything wrong here. These specific players were kind of screwed, so they fought for this.

The hypocrisy is the key here with the SEC, the media, everyone - this is JUST LIKE the WW stuff. folks don't like Kiffin just like they don't like WW, so even though he's not doing anything many others are, he gets treated like he started it and is the only one doing it. And all others are ignored so he is put out there to take the whipping for everyone.

It's pure laziness in reporting this, and pure laziness by the SEC in trying to manage this. Hopefully the few non-lazies will chime in and expose it for what it is.
