How do you know they're going to do that? They could do something like 3 or 4, maybe even 5 permanents and then rotate the rest.

Because that is what every reputable source has said since the announcement of Texas and OU to the SEC. SMH.

If “by awhile”, you mean 2 years from now, then, yeah. Whether it goes to 1 permanent opponent in a. 8-game schedule or 3 permanent opponents in a 9-game schedule, LSU will probably play non-permanent opponents every other year. Twice every four years, 1 home and 1 away.

Believe it or not, kids, LSU and Auburn only started playing annually in 1992. LSU and Auburn didn’t play each other between 1942 and 1969, and only played each other four times between 1974 and 1991.

Source? As far as I know only the 2024 schedule has been released. They've said nothing of 2025 or beyond.

What are these reputable sources? I've only seen rumors on message boards because its how you mathematically play every team every 2 years, but we don't play every team every 2 years now, in fact that's never how the schedule has worked in the entirety of the SEC's history. Why are we so sure they're going to start doing that now?

I completely agree. It’s crazy how I get nervous and then confident every time we play the War Eagles, Plainsmen, etc. It’s ALWAYS a great game.

My favorite game of the year. I have no love for expansion.

Yep. I mentioned it an an SECRant post, but after playing Auburn this weekend we will be tied in the amount of times we have played them and Kentucky (58).

Auburn played most of their games against teams that are now in the east. We typically played teams that are now in the west (other than Auburn and Arky - who wasn’t here). We also typically played Florida and Kentucky every year.

There have been many all-time classic games between the two teams.

Everybody remembers Cole Tracy's walk-off winning "chip shot" FG in 2018, but seemingly no one remembers Connor Culp"s heroics the year before, which were just as significant and more incredible, as it completed a YUGE LSU comeback and huge upset-- just think this LSU team had earlier been obliterated by an average Miss St unit and embarrassed by TROY!

The two Tigers did not play each other from 1942 to 1969. Since then, particularly since 1992 it's been a great rivalry. Sure hope we don't have that kind of gap in the future.

I would argue that the LSU-Auburn series since 2000 or so has produced the most exciting games in that time span.

It's been a great series, every game against Auburn seems to be a war. I went to Jordan-Hare for the first time last year, and had a great time. I'll miss the annual game.

Screw TAMU BS permanent opponent and the BS expansion that brought those last 2 POS to the conference. I would rather Arky as a permanent rival BECAUSE THEY ARE.
The downvotes say it all. TAMU fans on here and you lsu fans allow the BS shite stirring.

I would say this is correct since they started playing annually. The 1990s had several memorable games between the two teams. I hate it's going away on an annual basis. I was just pointing out that they haven't always played on an annual basis and that life goes on.

Yeah, and if I recall correctly, it used to be on back-to-back Saturdays in October. In the '70s, there were a couple of trips to Lexington where Kentucky wore white at home for just the LSU game to force the Tigers into purple jerseys.

LSU and Kentucky rolled off the annual schedule when the league switched to a 5-1-2 format starting with the 2002 season.

LSU always played Florida the first week of October and Kentucky the third week. There was always one game in between: back in the 1960's it was often Miami!

believe it or not I’m plenty old enough to have been going to games since before the ‘92 expansion.

and the Auburn series is now one of the great ones.
it needs to be played every year.

eliminating this series on an annual basis is not “progress”

Kentucky wore "spite whites" vs LSU in 1974, 1976, 1978 and 1980.

LSU lost the first two of these games, in their unlucky gold/purple/gold and won the latter two. Also, Florida forced the Tigers into purple a number of occasions back in the 1960's and 1970's, and except for a 3-3 tie in 1972, LSU always lost those games in the unlucky uniform.

Yeah. Make those dumbass SWC Teams play each other. Nobody wants to watch SWC teams play the real SEC.
I hate all those schools.

That Miami series in the 60's reminds of that game where Freddie Haynes was getting manhandled by future Oakland Raider legend, Ted Hendricks!
