Say what you want, but if LSU beats the undefeated #1 team to win the SEC championship, they are in. Period.
Say what you want, but you have no way of knowing that. Much of this has to do with how other teams finish the year.
12-1 Tenn SEC runner up
11-2 LSU SEC champ
11-1 UGA
13-0 tOSU Big 10 champ
11-1 UM
13-0 Clem ACC champ
13-0 TCU Big 12 champ
12-1 Oregon PAC 12 champ
In this scenario every single one of these teams has just as good of a case to make it as LSU.

My point still stands, if GA beats TN Saturday they will undoubtedly be #1. If we knock off Bama this weekend and #1 GA in SECC LSU would be a a lock for playoffs.

I think with these scenarios Clemson would be out, they don’t have a single win that is even remotely respectable. I think committee would put in a 1 loss SEC runner up over Clemson

I think they'd go Tennessee. It would be hard to ignore the head to head match up and how decisive Tennessee won that game in Baton Rouge. It would ultimately lead to a bigger playoff, just like 2 loss LSU winning the NC lead to playoffs.
If Tenner wins the SECE, however, and we go to the SECCG and beat them, then I think the committee gives us the benefit of the doubt and sends LSU to the playoffs.

I've already stated this, but now we have CFP rankings too.
LSU would have beaten 3 CFP Top 15 teams Ole Miss, Alabama, AND either the #1 Georgia/Tenn...
TCU at 7 is definitely a disrespect as they have the most wins against ranked opponents this year. Also, the committee is more likely to leave the SEC out entirely than take the #2 SEC team AND leave out the SEC champion.
Big 10 - Only 1 will survive here unless the SEC is left out
Ohio ST - Has 2 Top 15 Wins #15 Penn State and #4 Michigan
Michigan - Would also have 2 Top 15 Wins #15Penn State and #2 Ohio State
Big 12 - TCU is the only option and has wins against #18 OK St, #13 Kst, #24 Texas.
ACC - Clemson is the only option and they look weak
Clemson's signature wins are #20 Wake Fst, #21 NC St, #22 Syracuse.
Pac-12 Oregon is #8/USC #9 they could go as high as #4... So I could see the committee desperately wanting to put in a West Coast if they win out..
Who has the best Resume.... the SEC Champ by far.

And they mean nothing right now. They don’t even mean anything until that committee gets in the room and makes their decisions without the slightest bit of transparency or accountability.
There is absolutely no guarantee an SEC Champion LSU makes the playoffs. Not saying it’s not possible—or maybe even likely—but there are several scenarios that could play out that would have LSU on the outside looking in.
But like I said, these rankings mean nothing now. Everything tends to work itself out in a November.

i had my doubts that a 2 loss LSU SEC champ would get in, but i do think the committee ranking us #10 makes that an easier proposition.
you beat Bama, jump to 7ish, beat a Tenn/UGA team that will be ranked #1 most likely, you will AT LEAST jump to #4.
ETA - i wish people would stop saying its a guarantee. if you have 3 undefeated teams, there is only one spot, and 4 or 5 of the remaining teams would have only 1 loss.
it will take the committee REALLY valuing LSU's second half of the season.

All this will be sorted out on the field. Most of these teams will lose. Clemson will probably lose to crappy Notre Dame this weekend and they will be singing Freeman’s praises like he is their savior again

Negative
SEC champ is in with 2 losses.

Refs will be on high alert as the office will want two sec schools and LSU winning against Bama will mean that is likely out of the question.

No shot imo
Doesn't matter what else happens. If we beat Bama (win out in regular season) and beat UGA/UT winner in the SECCG, we are in. No matter what. They would never leave us out after that resume.

No, next question...
If we win out, they are in!

Dude there is absolutely no way we beat Bama, A&M, Arkansas, AND UGA or UT.
Just stop.
Just stop.

Stop what? Discussing LSU football on an LSU football discussion forum?

A 3 loss LSU definitely gets snubbed

In that scenario, UT goes in over LSU easy.

WAT?!
How did 2-loss SEC Champ LSU winning the Natty lead to the playoff being formed 7 years later? LSU was ranked #2 in every poll on December 2nd that year. They were clearly thought of as the #2 team in college football.
Alabama making the playoff after not even playing for the SEC Title had more to do with the playoff being formed than LSU winning in 2007. Yes, they were #2 in every poll at the end, but as a team that did not win their conference, alot of people didn't like them making the National Title game.
2 loss LSU could get snubbed, but I believe the only scenario where that happens is if either UGA or Tenn is not undefeated going into the SECCG. If LSU knocks off an undefeated SEC East Champ, they are in the playoffs.
Whoever said Tennessee gets in without even winning the east because of the win over LSU is on drugs, especially if LSU beats #1 UGA while Tenn could not (in this scenario). LSU has the best win of any of the playoff contenders at that point, and it's against a common opponent.

quote:the playoff committee could also make a argument that a 1 loss Tennessee destroyed a 2 loss sec champion LSU on its own home field. Also the FSU loss will still carry a lot of weight on the tigers resume.
