A Colorado father who climbed Yosemite’s El Capitan with his 7-year-old son says someone reported him to child protective services, questioning his parenting.

If he had his son castrated and pumped full of estrogen, no one in California would have said a thing.

Outrage is erupting after a Colorado dad who helped his son become the YOUNGEST PERSON EVER to reach the top of Yosemite’s El Capitan... ...was REPORTED TO CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES for letting him do it.
Yes, you read that right. His name is Joe Evermore, his son is Joey “Danger” Evermore. Yes, Danger is his real middle name ??
Joey started the climb at 6 years old and he turned 7 HALFWAY UP THE WALL. On May 20th, after FIVE DAYS on a 3,000-foot granite face, he reached the summit.
His older brothers, Sam and Sylvan, had both done it at 8, Joey beat them both.
By the way... this was not a stunt thrown together over a weekend, it was a rope ascent with a full support team. Joe says his son was anchored to the wall the entire way, and that he managed the risks with a team, preparation, and training.
In his dad’s words: “In a way he’s the least afraid that we’ve ever seen.”
After the story went global, the comments turned ugly. Joe says people told him his kids would be better off in FOSTER CARE... and then came the CPS reports. Not one. MULTIPLE.
Joe says the family then got a LETTER from Child Protective Services. CPS had reviewed the complaints... and DECLINED to pursue them (the right move) Joe’s words: “they just don’t understand what’s dangerous and what’s not dangerous.”
So true... people let their kids have live access to anything and everything on the internet, but as soon as they see a brave kid doing something OUTSIDE, people lose their minds.
Childhood is being slowly destroyed by people who don't know what danger really is.
This man did nothing wrong and that boy is a LEGEND!!!!

Probably a lot safer than riding in the car to 30A on a friday evening or swimming in the gulf in August but those psycho white women dont think anything of that.

Probably offended that a father was spending time outdoors with his son. How can the mother strangle him if he is rock climbing.

Karens and Kens. Gotta hate them

No one should be allowed to report anonymously for things like this.

Same people who filed complaints were probably one of the ones who supported the bitch who killed her kids…

The trick to this is performing a gender reassignment procedure at the peak. Problem solved.

Gee, I wonder what they'd think about a day in the life of a Cub Scout in 1969?
When I was in the Cub Scouts in 1969 at 8 years old, me and about 10 other 8 year old's went to the Texas National Guard in Austin. They let each of us squeeze off a few rounds from a fully automatic M60 machine gun. We got to keep the spent casings and the links that held then together. Good times.
it was set up on a bi-pod just like this photo.

The reason libs do what they do? No consequences for their actions. Same as for these fake rape charges. Youd get a lot less crap like this if there were penalties for making false accusations.

Those complaining are looking at the event through the lens of their own inabilities. These are the same people who never would have crossed the ocean prior to steam engines nor braved the frontier by chancing the Oregon Trail.
Their expressed vehemence at those who achieve is nothing but a sad statement on their own failures.

She'd probably have to settle for some bungee cords, I'm assuming they don't ascend with exercise bands

Plenty of opportunities to call out bad parenting . This ain’t one.

This is an interesting topic, popping back up quite a while after the "climb". I have been climbing since I was 4 and have climbed multiple routes on El Cap. The climbing community is mainly against this stunt. It has nothing to do with the age and everything to do with the method. Neither the father or the son actually climbed anything. They just jugged the route behind "pirate guides" hired as rope guns. There party had too many people to be legal. The boy did nothing more than use ascenders to move up the climb. Climbers that passed them on the route called it nothing short of a cluster frick.
This is the type of stunt that not only endangers the group but other climbers and has a negative impact on the ability of climbers to have acess to some of the best climbing in the world. All the Evermore kids should be completely forgotton in terms of "climbing" El Cap. The name people outside the climbing community should know is Selah Schneiter who at 10 actually climbed El Cap. This was nothing more than an ill-conceived stunt. As for CPS being called I think that is over the top but as Tommy Caldwell said it was cingeworthy.
