I think another good question is...

Had Cecil got his act together in Miami, could Marino have won a super bowl?

If only Collins could've kept straight. The dude was amazing. Im laughing just thinking about that season in '97. Sitting at shitty arse Independence stadium in the cold arse rain/snow watching Rondell Mealey run all over Notre Dame
I was in the north endzone... Only thing that I really remember besides how much we destroyed ND, was Mealey and the 250 lbs streaker that got formed tackled by an ex all city football player turned cop. Greatest tackle in college football to this day

Collins is the best back I have ever seen. RP may not have been a top 10 QB at LSU. It's not like RP looked super in the games he played in.

Your right, he wasn't the SEC Championship player of the game that sent us on to New Orleans in 2007 that gave us a chance to win the NC

Collins would have been the best RB in history at LSU. RP would have been a great QB with some more jewelry.

Perriloux had special talent, but Collins is one of those once in a lifetime type players. He could have reached legendary status had he stayed out of young girls' windows.

Collins became a legend in three games.

I remember watching another game and the commentator saying "Is Cecilc Collins good? I'll tell you how good he is. I'm watching Hawaii vs Utah State and the guys on there are talking about Cecil Collins. So is Cecil Collins good? You bet he is!"

The fact that we are even having this discussion, considering the fact that Collins played in what, 4 games, kind of answers the question.

At the end of the Auburn game, Auburn's defenders didn't even try and tackle the guy.

I remember watching the '97 LSU/Auburn game at my brothers house in Gainesville after going to the UF game. I remember this LSU running back running wild up and down the field and thinking 'who the hell is this guy?' That was one amazing performance. He was unstoppable period.

Then there was the next weekend at LSU

After 13 years in prison, former Dolphin says 'The Diesel' is gone

quote:

But there's an unusual sense of gratitude to his past 13 years, too. As if they were the only way The Diesel could be gone.

"I have no regrets, no grudges, none of that,'' he says. "What happened to me in that time saved my life. I believe if I was left out there with that same mindset, I'd be dead or my life would be totally in shambles.

Perriloux would have been a successful SEC QB who could have turned into a All-SEC pick in 08 or 09--maybe.

Collins would be included in a debate between Herschel and Bo about who was the best SEC back ever.

Big difference.
