I'm all for Name,Image, and likeness - IF it makes sense, like selling your jersey with your name and number on it.
But, you can't have boosters paying players a million dollars to say a couple of words on a commercial or sign a few things on a Saturday morning in the Summer time.
The booster just would have paid a million for the jersey instead. That’s why there was never any gray area in the rules.

This means you can basically give a player infinite eligibility. We're going to see 35 year old college athletes on their 17th season

There needs to be a ruling judge who isn’t from or associated with the area or school. Oh wait…. The courts who are supposed to be impartial have turned into home team courtrooms.

This will be appealed, as this is a completely separate kind of case from other eligibility cases.
This is bordering criminal behavior and the FBI should be involved unless Im mistaken.

So get rid of the rule about players betting on their own games. It no longer applies. At this point I don’t care as long as anyone can do it.

You bet on your own team, you should be ineligible forever regardless of sport or level. That needs to be a hard line you cannot cross.
Apparently it’s not the case anymore.

Teams should reuse to play them.

It's time to cheat like never before. Nothing matters anymore in this NFL 2.0 watered down league.
This is the exact opposite of the right response. It’s time to stand up and say some district judge has no jurisdiction over an established authority and boycott Texas tech athletics until they recognize the same authority the rest of us do.

Yup. Sounds about right. No consequences therefore, no more rules. Let Anarchy exist.
Obviously, I’m being sarcastic, but this is nuts. On a different level that absurd NIL and pay for play. It’s the golden rule that no judge should be able to overturn.
Just have all colleges boycott TT, and refuse to play them. They can’t survive if they don’t play games. It’s that simple.

The ruling also said that Sorsby "demonstrated that he will suffer a probable, imminent, and irreparable injury if this Court does not issue this temporary injunction because he will be unable to participate as a member of Texas Tech University's 2026 Football season."
That’s what happens when you break rules, you suffer consequences. And we wonder why kids these days are so fricked up? What a messed up time we’re living in.
We are literally telling kids it’s ok to break rules and laws.

I don’t know how Joey McGuire could put him on the field even if he is eventually ruled eligible. He’s already amply demonstrated that he can’t be trusted. First time he throws an int or fumbles, it’s gonna be suspect.

What a complete joke.
This one isn't on the NCAA. These judges are out of control.

If the rule cannot be enforced, why have it?
Posted on 6/8/26 at 12:51 pm to MOT
That's true. That's why there must be rules, but who will make these rules?
The judges have basically ruled that the NCAA can't really do anything except makes schedules and brackets for tournaments.

It was dead long before this ruling. 5 to play will help but it is also not going to be enforced

quote:correct - the NCAA has been neutered. It's now the Wild West, with essentially no rules.

But even when a new body is formed to make and administer rules, it'll only have limited power, due to the constant threat of lawsuits, and the genie won't be put back in the bottle.
Today's college football bears almost no resemblance to the sport I've loved for 50+ years.
It's been sad to witness.
