Alabama, Florida, LSU, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt -- all of whom were granted bids despite going 13-17 in SEC play. Bama, LSU, South Carolina and Vandy

Uhhhm look at the top 5 SEC teams who made it and extrapolate out why this is a stupid bitch-tit comment.

Northeastern, UNCW, Stony Brook, Campbell, CoC. It's a pretty good league. They need a better TV deal

I know this sounds good in your head, but the Southland, Sunbelt, West Coast Conference, Big West, Ivy League, and two different summer leagues have their games on ESPN+. Please, expound on the ratings bonanzas those represent compared to the Coastal Athletic Association.

I’m sure if the CAA wanted they could be on there too… they gotta be somewhere right?

Did you see their loses? They had opportunities.

Whats amazing is historically 13-17 SEC teams got in at like a 30 something % rate. That would tell you probably only 2 of the 5 13-17 SEC teams should have gotten in going by historical numbers. However, the SEC was just absolutely brutally tough this season and the teams that kind of needed to win those SECT games did.

Worth considering that that the SEC has three or four of the top seeds in the tournament. Wouldn't make much sense to give those teams such high seeds if you were going to exclude all of the teams who only lost to those top seeds.

Yep. Basically what i said above and got downvoted by a CofC fan (my wife no pics is an alum so would have been fun to see them) or other low-info poster.

Charleston was more deserving than Coastal IMO. Don't see why they were compared to superior SEC teams though.

Good argument and of course the tigers get the heat. Every year a small school is gonna get the short end of the stick when a few big schools get hot at the right time. Favor gonna fall on a powerhouse defending national title team. Good year Charleston!

The real tragedy is them putting in Florida over anyone, including College of Charleston.

The only way to solve this issue, giving the direction of college sports, is to bring the FCS model to baseball and basketball.

He would have had a much stronger argument if he hadn’t let his bitterness at getting let go by SC get the better of him. Charleston has a good case relative to teams like Kansas St and Georgia Tech with losing conference records and a worse RPI or James Madison who finished 4th in an only slightly tougher conference.

And in my opinion that’s irrelevant.
The SEC gets every built in advantage known to man. I have no issue with letting 13-17 SEC squads in who handle business in the non conference. Florida making this field 1 game over .500 is an abomination.

I fail to really see why here

- Coastal's RPI was 36, Charleston's 42
- Charleston had more overall wins at 41 vs. Coastal's 34 but Coastal's SOS was WAY WAY higher at 22 vs. Charleston's 112
- Charleston played 25 Quad 4 games, Coastal only played 8; on the flip side Coastal played 13 Quad 1 games, Charleston 7
- Charleston never really picked up a "name" win, but picked up 2 wins @ UNCW, and 2 wins over Northeastern at home; however they played UNCW 5 times this year and lost 3 of the 5 times
- Coastal picked up a number of name wins including North Carolina, Wake Forest; they 3-game swept Michigan, destroyed Illinois and Cincinnati...they also had 2 games against Clemson cancelled, so Charleston wasnt the only team something like that happened to

Coastal just played a much tougher schedule and picked up more important wins. I think Charleston's biggest issue is they're in the wrong conference, they should really be in the Sun Belt. The CAA isn't a bad conference, but its still way worse than the Sun Belt in baseball. Coastal was able to pickup key conference series wins that mean something meanwhile Charleston got 1 series against UNCW only to lose to them 3 times out 5 total overall. They played 1 name series against Nebraska OOC and got swept, that was probably their undoing. They win just 1 of those games against Nebraska and it could have been a different story.

this is why further expansion of college football playoffs will always be meaningless.

I see your point but not meaningless. I mean they werent considered best of 64 teams. Do they really have an argument? Same with football. Is number 13 really going to win the natty? The first one out is always going to argue why they deserved a shot
