College Athletes Used to Live in Dorms. Now They’re Buying Million-Dollar Homes.

That's the title of an article on WSJ this morning. It's paywalled, but this is the part I found interesting.
and don't forget... this is a 24 year old... in his 6th year... ruled ineligible multiple times... and only playing under a court order. Good for the young man, but keep this info in mind when you continue hearing the blowhards glazing him while acting like these two kids Kiffin tried to roster would be the death of "amateur" status in college football.

I mean good for him but this is crazy how these times have changed...absolutely insane. But good for him, I would assume some LSU players did a similar thing. Don't hate it but it is wild.

I heard that Leavitt bought a $2m home in BR.
I don't understand the reason to purchase a home that you are going to live in for maybe a year. I guess if I'm making millions, who cares?

When I showed up in 1980 to swim I ended up in the Fountainblue apartments after walking into my dorm room and said NFW.

It's really not a good idea because selling these types of homes can take time for sure in many cases, plus the transactions costs alone make buying and reselling within a year or two a horrible decision usually.

In chambliss case I don’t mind him buying. He can now sell it was the home the qb who lead them to the playoffs once owned. Probably gets an immediate 25-40% price premium that more than offsets the commissions and potential risk.
For others it makes a lot less sense.

What is with the aggression? Him having a home in Oxford will be a smart decision for him whenever his football career is over. Ole Miss alumni will help him in business ventures and opportunities. He is also a top draft pick prospect so he will make plenty of $. Odd take to have.

I have no doubt that these homes came with a "right of first offer" at a profitable price signed by a booster, meaning the house will get offloaded and these kids will be in the black.

I'd buy an apartment before buying a house
Buy one, and then the one above and one below. Maybe the ones on each side for peace and quiet
Spend way less and after a year, you have 5 apartments with passive income and never ending supply of tenants (if purchased just off campus)
