We won 1-0 and they had tying run at plate in 9th in game 2

Where does this “man that team sucked “ thinking come from?

that why they hit the only 2 HR in the finals

The both kinda ran into em on hanging offspeed. Even with two HRs if you take the rest of their ABs and calculate team slugging, it’s prob in the .300’s

The batted ball data on the 1st one it has a .077 mlb average this season.

Average distance is 326’. This ball got up in the wind and went 342’. That is a fly out most days in that park.

Alright, middle of the pack sec.

They were ranked 13 in the nation.

That’s about right.

They were a good Sunbelt team.

LSU v. Arky games were the real national championship matchups.

LSU loves hitting the ball out to RF. The wind crushing everything to right kept a good bit of runs off for LSU. If LSU plays Coastal in normal conditions LSU beats them 95% of the time. Plukey threw some gas and had some top stuff, but those other pitchers were average. Their .58 era closer threw 91 and had 2 balls hit over 105mph right at the CF. That team would have been middle of the pack in the SEC

No, we barreled him him more than 1 inning. We hit him hard.

Maybe you watched a different game?

1st: K, ground out, single, K

2nd: ROE, double play, line out

3rd: lead off single, sac bunt, fly out, double (RBI), pop out

4th: walk, single (runner to third), HBP, single (scores 2), sac bunt, pop out, single (scores 2) - then he was pulled.

He gave up a single in the 1st, a single and double in the 3rd with 1 earned run before his disastrous 4th inning.

What am I missing that you saw?

You’re missing that the outs were hit hard

Guy went 3.2 giving up 5 runs and you are acting like he held his own.

Still outs. Now, I agree, he looked like a deadly closer in the first inning and merely mortal after that.

We did almost get him in 3 (but just 1 run). We did get him in 4 and he sat earlier than he had all season. So, there is all of that.

Their relievers combined for 7 Ks, versus 5 hits, no runs in 5 1/3 innings. The damage was done and it was done in the 4th inning against Morrison.

I reiterate - other than Morrison in 4 during game 2, their pitchers played more than good enough to beat us. Their bats failed them with only the smallest glimmer of life in 7 of Game 2.

I do believe they had a stout pitching staff. Much deeper than I thought.
LSU only scored 6 runs in two full games, so against our lineup with the wind blowing out to lf, I think that was darn good.

I was impressed with two of their pitchers. Like very impressed. Their defense and offense left a lot to be desired but otherwise I was impressed with what I saw from them on the mound.

I wouldn't call them disappointing, they're Sunbelt. They had relatively easy Regionals, and was on the weak side of the bracket in Omaha. They've probably never seen, or imagined, what the LSU experience is like in Omaha.

Then how did we score 6 runs?

You say that like that’s a lot over 18 innings. It’s not. And 4 of those came in 1 inning. Thats where 17 out of 18 came from. 2 runs in 17 innings is being shut down

They were comparable to a lower tier sec team, with maybe 1 additional good pitcher.

I mean, they travelled to the plains for the super and swept a higher seeded Auburn team.

I don’t understand this need to diminish a team that was in the championship at the CWS. Especially given the G1 result vs a really, really good lsu team
